Summer breeze

Great. This whole weekend there wasn't much to cheer about weather-wise, and now that I have to work summer is finally kicking in. That means no swimming and feeling like the office has turned into an oven. It was actually so hot it made a lot of people turn a bit dizzy and it gave me a serious headache.

Then I got home, and compared to work it seemed more like the middle of a nuclear explosion in my living room. Unbelievable how fucking hot my room can become. I drank an entire bottle of iced tea in about 10 minutes, and still I'm sweating like I've just done the marathon....twice! So I figured I'd just close the curtains, but that makes it a bit depressingly dark in here. Guess there is nothing more to do then be a couch-potato this evening, and then early to bed. Grr.... I hate doing nothing... Hopefully it will be a bit cooler tomorrow, but for what I've heard on the weather report, that's a fat chance.

(By the way, it seems as if I'm using this blog for nothing else but whining, but better times are on their way, I promise!)

Weekend life

Now that I didn't go to Paris this weekend (which I'm still sad about), I had to find some other ways to keep myself busy. Friday was my day off from work, since I planned to use it as a travel day, so I went to visit my parents, which was nice. I stayed at my mom's until saturday afternoon, and then headed back.

Saterday night a friend of mine came over for a glass of wine (well, a bit more glasses actually hehe) after which we went out clubbing. We had a good time, although we were a bit tired, so we didn't stay very long. It was very busy though, since it was a local holiday yesterday.

Now it's sunday and I've spent most of the day watching stupid call tv. Tonight I'm going to have a drink, and then the weekend is over already...

Goodbye to Paris

I'm not in Paris.... boohoo. There has been a fire in BP's Singapore office and Ryan had to go there, so we couldn't go on holiday.... I'm really really really sad right now... We have to reschedule until somewhere late september or even october. Feel like crying now.... I need a hug!

A Dutch guy in Paris

So I'm off to Paris in only a couple of days. Looking forward to it big time. The only thing is.... I don't speak French. I can manage 'oui' and 'non' but that's about it really. So I bought myself this Holiday Travel Guide-kinda thing, which has the basic translations for a vacation in it. I cannot even pronounce it hahaha. It will be a point-and-tell situation for the entire weekend, and I'm sure the French will think I'm a bit pathetic.

Anyway, besides this, I want this week to be over, so that it's friday and I'm on my way on the Thalys!!!

Hangover from hell

Last night I went to a work function, organised for a colleague who's leaving for Amsterdam and got to-tal-ly pissed. Well it wasn't just me, actually we all did (especially my boss and me), even though we had to go to work this morning at 9 AM. That wasn't such a good idea.... While I'm still supposed to be at work while I'm writing this, I'm actually at home suffering the worst hangover ever and feeling really sorry for myself. What a way to start the weekend. I felt like total shit at work and couldn't get anything done, so I guess it was the right choice to go home, but still, I don't like doing that.

So now the weekend's started and I'm feeling sick. Poor poor poor me (some sympathy would be welcome hehe). I hope I will feel a bit more like a human by tonight. Or maybe I'll just go lay on the couch and try to get some sleep.

Anyway, everyone have a good weekend!

A new day has come

Tomorrow is the first day of this years KEI-week, the introduction week for freshmen students in Groningen (which is where I live). For the past couple of years this has always been kind of a big deal to me, that consumed my entire week. This year, for the first time, I'll just be working and taking just a little of it in over the weekend by bartending two times.

Even though it's already been seven years, it still feels like a very short time ago when I actually was a first years' student and saw the KEI-week from the other side. It felt scary, living by yourself in a new city, with new people and a new life. I remember feeling really grown-up just because I wasn't living with my parents anymore, while actually you're just a little kid that's left in the playground on it's own for the first time. Weekends were a time to go back to your hometown and stay with your parents. So much for independance...

During the course of years, as you grow older, it loses a little of its charm, and now I can't really be bothered anymore to do anything for the new students with their new student lifes, that I'm no longer a part of. It's sad really, how a former highlight of the year can turn into something so unimportant. But hey, maybe it's gonna be a total blast and an exhausted Theo will be raving on what a fun week he had in seven days. You never know, right?

I don't like mondays

So it's monday today, and like most people, I always find it very hard to get the week started. Had to go to work today after a funfilled weekend of partying. Well actually, not just partying. Sunday afternoon I went swimming, so now I can say I actually did something usefull this weekend. Swimming is quite good if you smoke as many cigarettes as I do, since A) you're working out and B) you can't have a smoke in the water. Well, you can actually, but it's not easy...

So today it was back to work and it wasn't even that hard. Good thing I stayed at home last night and resisted the temptations of having a drink with some friends. Tonight though, I don't have a choice, 'cause it's Madonna's 47th birthday tomorrow, and of course that calls for a toast at 12 o' clock. Guess we're gonna have one of our DVD marathon sessions while praising Madonna and acting like total fools. Oh well....

Only a week and a half to go until I'm off to Paris for a weekend, with a rather cute Englishman. Can't wait, even though I've just been on holiday, going away for weekends is some kind of addiction I suppose.

Well, enough nonsense... dinner time! See you all soon!

Welcome to my new blog, which I created due to the fact that my old one was only about Madonna, and I felt like writing about different things as well. You can though, still visit the old one at if you're up for an obsessive amount of Madonna!
This new blog will be about me (loving to be the center of the universe) and will be updated regularly. So please come and visit me now and again, and feel free to post comments (in English please, as I'm trying to make it readable for everyone). Thanks!
