Broken boiler

Yesterday evening, while I was comfortably on the couch watching Maid in Manhattan (starring Jennifer Lopez, great movie!), my central heating boiler decided to break down, and me, being a technical nitwit, of course didn't have a clue what to do about it, so I called the electrician company. It was too late in the evening to get it fixed right away, so there's a mechanic coming over this afternoon.

The fucked up thing is, this is costing me an afternoon off at work, and really while this is the bussiest week of the month, I don't have any time to sit around at home an entire afternoon. On the other hand, it's too cold to spend another evening without heating (much less without a hot shower), so it really needs to get fixed today.

Besides, it's a little bit scary to have a broken boiler in your house. I know it may be a bit far fetched, but I'm always sort of afraid it might blow up or catch fire if I do something wrong...

Madonna Confessions

Totally Theo readers who have been to one or more Sticky & Sweet shows will already be given the chance to buy Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary's book called Madonna Confessions. This fantastic coffeetable book is full of pictures taken during Madonna's 2006 Confessions Tour, and is really a must have for every fan.

Since August 23 the book is up for sale at the merchandise stands of the Sticky & Sweet Tour, but if you happen to miss it, as of November 4th the book will be on regular sale in Europe! Recommended highly!

Take That tour dates!

Take That have announced the first dates of their Circus Live Summer 2009 Tour! The dates so far are only in the UK, but seeing as Eventim has already put up a Ticket Alert service for German dates, I think it's safe to say the European tour will be announced soon as well!

Anyway, these are the dates so far:

June 6 - Stadium Of Light, Sunderland
June 16 - Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
June 20 - Hamden Park, Glasgow
June 26 - Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester
June 27 - Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester
June 28 - Old Trafford Stadium, Manchester
July 3 - Wembley Stadium, London
July 4 - Wembley Stadium, London

The fact there's so many days off between shows is pretty much a given many more shows will be announced soon!

By the way: Yes, the picture above is the official album cover of Take That's new album The Circus, out on December 1st!

No to Proposition 8

Speaking of elections, if you happen to live in California, please make sure to read this website and to vote against Proposition 8 next week. It's time to put a stop to discrimination against gays and lesbians!

Early voting

Contrary to popular believe, it isn't mandatory for every US citizen to vote next Tuesday, November 4th. Obviously, it isn't mandatory because voting isn't mandatory in the first place, but also, in many states, people can already cast their vote as of this week. This process, called early voting, is meant to minimalise lines at the voting booth on the actual election day. Moreover, to us, the public, they also provide an advance look into what might be the outcome.

Obviously, as we all expected, the outcome seems to point in the direction of Barack Obama. John McCain, together with Sarah Palin, has just made too many mistakes these past couple of weeks. I think Palin was a huge mistake, after she did a couple of interviews that were just embarassing to even watch, and of course there were the scandals. Also, McCain himself, I suppose, has been focusing on dragging Obama through the mud so much, he didn't really got around to convincing the American people of his own ideas.

As you all know, I'm all for Obama (even though of course, as a Dutch citizen I'm obviously not allowed to vote), so I will be watching the election with great interest. Even more so, it will be interesting to see if Obama will indeed provide the change he is promising the American people, and, for that matter, the world. At least we know that surely he can't do any worse than Bush did!

Busy times

It's been a busy day at work, which is good, as it makes the day go by real fast! The last week of any given month is always busy for my department, so this was expected. Needless to say, I'm happy with my quiet evening, especially since I just returned from swimming, which is to me a fun and healthy way to spend the evening.

Tomorrow will no doubt be just as busy as today, so again I didn't make any plans for the evening. As you know, I love having company around, but during the last week of the month it's better, just for myself, to not really do anything at night, so that I can go to bed early and be back in the office fresh and happy the next morning.

Have a great evening!

More on the KylieX2008 DVD

Fremantle Media Enterprises (FME) has announced the acquisition of worldwide DVD rights to Kylie Minogue’s current international live tour KYLIEX2008.

The content features the concert along with 17 minutes of bonus footage entitled ‘12 Hours’. FME launched this home entertainment package at MIPCOM to overwhelming interest from international buyers and is in the process of solidifying several deals. The DVD will be released in the UK on December 1, 2008.

‘12 Hours’, exclusive to this Home Entertainment special, is a glimpse at a day in the life of Kylie, from waking in the morning to her final encore at the end of the show. It allows the viewer to become a silent witness through the lens of the film-maker.

Pete Kalhan, FME Senior Vice President Home Entertainment said, “KylieX2008 was a spectacular live show, one that can be enjoyed again and again, not just by Kylie fans, but by anyone who has an appreciation of live music and creative performance.”

FME has also acquired worldwide rights to the 2006 documentary ‘White Diamond’, an intimate look at Kylie’s preparation, performance and persona throughout the ‘Showgirl Homecoming’ tour featuring backstage footage and revealing interviews. This personal portrait has never been available on Australian DVD.

Live Parc des Princes

The lovely Mika will release his second DVD next month, which will be a concert filmed at Parc des Princes in Paris! I'm really looking forward to it, as this was only one show before I saw his concert this summer at Westerpark Amsterdam!

Zac Efron breaking records

As expected, High School Musical 3 is the global number one movie in boxscores this week! Turns out I'm not the only Zac Efron fan! I have yet to see the movie, which I'm planning on doing next week!

Miles Away

I just woke up from a fuzzy dream
You never would believe the things that I have seen
I looked in the mirror and I saw your face
You looked right through me you were miles away
All my dreams they fade away
I'll never be the same
If you could see me the way you see yourself
I could pretend to be someone else

You always love me more miles away
I hear it in your voice you're miles away
You're not afraid to tell me miles away
I guess we're at our best when we're miles away
So far away

When no-one's around then I have you here
I begin to see the picture it becomes so clear
You always have the biggest heart
When we're six thousand miles apart
Too much of no sound
Uncomfortable silence can be so loud
Those three words are never enough
When it's long distance love

You always love me more miles away
I hear it in your voice you're miles away
You're not afraid to tell me miles away
I guess we're at our best when we're miles away
So far away

I'm alright
Don't be sorry, but it's true
When I'm gone you'll realise
That I'm the best thing that happened to you

Shut up

From the insane people over at One News Now:

A group that supports the false philosophy of separation of church and state has filed action against another pastor for having his say about politics.

Bishop Robert E. Smith is senior pastor at Word of Outreach and Christian Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas. Americans United for Separation of Church and State has lodged a complaint against him for endorsing John McCain for president from the pulpit on October 12.

"Bishop Smith knowingly and flagrantly violated the law and has even dared the IRS to investigate him for it," says Americans United leader Barry Lynn in a press release. "I hope the federal tax agency promptly takes him up on that."

But Smith contends the law upon which the complaint was filed with the Internal Revenue Service is unconstitutional.

"Congress cannot make any law that prohibits the free exercise of my faith," the pastor explains. "So a part of my faith as a minister is not only to deal with issues, but to deal with the people who are making the laws that affect the issues -- because I preach a two-sided gospel: the gospel of Christ for salvation, and the gospel of the kingdom for the political stability of its people. So that gets into politics."

The Arkansas pastor remembers a time when pastors could speak freely from the pulpit -- and did. "Well, that's the way it has been," he laments, "but since it's coming out in the form as it is now, a lot of the pastors are getting cold feet and they're backing up."

Smith is one of 33 pastors around the country who have spoken from the pulpit on political candidates and issues as part of Alliance Defense Fund's project to challenge the law and generate a lawsuit to take the issue to the U.S. Supreme Court. Complaints have been filed with the IRS against seven churches so far.

Excuse me? So now the Christians are even okay with breaking the law in order to indoctrinate the rest of the world and trying to impose their opinion on everyone else? No matter how they want to put it, there is still a law in the United States that forbids tax exempt organisations, such as churches, to mix into politics. If this fucking pastor is so eager to give his opinion from the pulpit, then he should be prepared to pay taxes like everyone else. If not, he should shut the fuck up.

Funfilled weekend

What a great weekend this has been so far! Friday I left the office early to make a jump start on the weekend, since I was going to have drinks with Annelies. She dropped her stuff off at my place (she was staying over for the night) and we went to town. Great afternoon, and when we got back, we watched Titanic on DVD. No matter how many times I've seen this movie, I'm never growing tired of it.

Saturday afternoon Jacolijn and Arjen came over, who were also staying for the night. I cooked dinner for the first time in about 5 years (I'm usually more of a microwave person) and I must admit it went pretty well. At least I didn't let anything burn!

Jacolijn and Arjen brought their Nintendo Wii, so we could play Mario Kart in the evening, along with a nice cold beer. I'm not very good in computer games, but Mario Kart is really cool! After that, we watched Bram Stoker's Dracula on DVD, after which we were all tired and went to bed.

This morning we had breakfast (the four of us) and then played a couple of more Mario Kart games. Now they've all left, as I'm getting ready to go to Leeuwarden to visit my parents! Cheers!

Miles Away video

Contrary to earlier reports, Warner Music has confirmed there will be a video for Madonna's new single Miles Away. The video will premiere on November 17 and will be made up out of footage from the Sticky & Sweet Tou!

Zac Efron shirtless again

Isn't he the most gorgeous man on the planet?

Funhouse

Pink's new album, Funhouse (which I bought yesterday) is extremely cool! On a first glance I would say it's even better than I'm Not Dead, which so far was my favourite album!

Theo's Bookclub

I'm currently re-reading all my John Grisham and Stephen King books, so I guess it's time to make some recommendations! This week I finished The Pelcican Brief, one you will probably know because of the Julia Roberts film adaption. I'm not that big on Julia Roberts, but I always liked the movie because of the suspension and the great storyline. Well, the book is even better, so I think you should all read it!

Currently, I'm reading another John Grisham novel, called A Time To Kill. This one's been a movie as well, but I haven't seen it, so I'm not sure it's a good one. I do know I liked the book a lot the last time I read it (which is about 8 years ago), so I'm sure I will like it again!

Sleepover fun

Now that I've got the space, it seems as if everyone wants to have a sleepover at my place. This weekend, Annelies, Arjen and Jacolijn are coming over and will spend the night at my place. As you may now, the three of them are my Madonna freinds, with whom I went to the concerts this past year. It's great having them over for the weekend, and I'm looking forward to it very much.

Moreover, Arjen and Jacolijn are planning on bringing their Nintendo Wii, so we can play Mario Kart, as we did the night before we went to Paris. Arjen and Jacolijn are coming over on Saturday, but Annelies is coming over tomorrow already. Right after work we're going to drop het stuff off, and then we'll go to a bar somewhere to have a drink to celebrate the weekend.

I'm looking forward to it! Just one more day at the office before the weekend begins!

No more sleeping bags

Speaking of tickets... it was announced yesterday that Dutch concertpromotor Mojo Concerts, which is a subsidary of LiveNation, will, as of 2009, no longer sell tickets through ticket outlets and postal offices. This means, no more sleeping in line on the ice cold street. From that moment on, the only way to buy tickets will be through the phone or the internet.

When I first heard about this, it pissed me off big time, as usual, when big stars go on sale (such as Madonna, Kylie, P!nk, Take That, Britney, in other words: all my favourite artists), all the servers crash and there's just no way of getting through. So, what I usually did was arrive at the ticket outlet at a very early moment, in order to make sure I would be first in line.

All of that will no longer be possible in just a short while, but the good news is: Mojo Concerts is parting ways with TicketMaster and will start selling their tickets through Eventim! As you may know, TicketMaster is a major pain in the ass, adding incomprehensible subcharges and offering a service that crashes all the time. None of that with Eventim! Eventim is already Germany's biggest ticketservice, and I've bought Madonna tickets for the Drowned World Tour, Confessions Tour and Sticky & Sweet Tour with them with absolutely no difficulty at all. Their servers are always up and running, no matter how many tickets are being sold at the same time.

So, while at first I thought Mojo was out of its mind, I now happily applaud this move, and I can only expect the process of buying tickets becoming a lot less stressful!

Tickets for P!nk

Two days before the official onsale starts, thanks to the LiveNation pre-sale, I've got tickets for me and Leendert to go and see P!nk's Funhouse Tour 2009 at the Ahoy Rotterdam! We're going to see her show on February 28, and I can't wait! Last time I saw P!nk was in December 2006, at the Heineken Music Hall Amsterdam during her I'm Not Dead Tour. That show was fantastic, so I'm really looking forward to seeing her again!

Great news you all! Take That will release their new album, called The Circus, on December 1st! The first single, called Greatest Day, has already been released to radio and will be available as a single from November 24th!

Even better news is the fact that according to several British newspapers, there will indeed be a 2009 tour to support the album!

Can't wait to hear from Take That again!

Madonna's friends talk

Exclusive, from Perez Hilton:

Madonna's friends and business associates have HAD ENOUGH with Guy Ritchie and his camp spreading lies and misinformation about the Queen of Pop….and they're finally speaking out!

PerezHilton.com just spoke exclusively to numerous people VERY close to Madonna.

What you are about to read is the truth.

Insiders tell us….

When Guy Ritchie was first introduced to Madonna, by Sting & Trudie Styler, he had a very rich girlfriend by the name of Rebecca Green.

Guy had a reputation of being a golddigger and he definitely lived up to that when he dumped his girlfriend of four years, Rebecca, for the much much richer Madonna.

"For his entire marriage to M, Guy lived like a king," one of our many close Madonna sources tell us. "He never spent a dime of his own money for their lifestyle or the children."

He never spent any money, even though he did have some money of his own. It's not as if he was a personal trainer.

What a royal douche!

In fact, sources tell us, Guy insisted that Madonna purchase a 1,200 hundred acre estate for him, fund million dollar holidays and fly him around on private jets to accomodate his fear of flying.

"Madonna finally got fed up with him never being around and being used and filed for a divorce," an impeccable source tells us. "Guy has threatened to go after half of M's hard-earned money, claiming that the law is on his side. He doesn't care that the world thinks of him as Heather Mills. He doesn't care that he has his own money and doesn't need her. He feels he is entitled to half of her empire."

Madonna's friends and associate tell us, "She is devastated."

Guy continues to live in the London house Madonna bought, ordering the staff around while she is on tour and pretending that he is the good, simple, family man only interested in his children and the countryside.

"Guy Ritchie is a fake and a phoney," says one of Madonna's confidants, clearly hurt by the way Ritchie has treater her. "He is not a macho man. Not an english lad. Not a gentleman. Not spiritual. He's just a money-hungry gold digger that doesn't want to earn his way."

All of the above is true and an understatement to say the least.

Number 15

Great news! Miles Away is climbing in the Dutch Top40 to #15! Seeing there is no physical single nor a video yet (there will be no video whatsoever, by the way), the song is doing great. Both 4 Minutes and Give It 2 Me made it to #1 in the Netherlands, so let's hope Miles Away will become Madonna's third top 10 single from Hard Candy!

Easy evening

It's been an easy day at work, as most of it was made up of listening to a presentation on our company's quaterly figures. This means mostly listening and not really doing anything. Although it's interesting, there's always the danger of getting tired of it after listening too long. The lenght of it was just enough to keep me interested, but still I'm glad I haven't got anything planned for tonight, as I'm pretty tired right now.

Tonight I'm just going to hang around a bit and watch some tv. I can either go for Pirates Of The Carribean 2: Dead Men's Chest, or America's Next Top Model. As I already own Pirates 2 on DVD, I will probably watch ANTM, which is getting more competative every week, and thus more interesting every week.

Also, I'm this close to finishing another John Grisham novel, so I'm also thinking about going to bed early so that I can read the final 50 pages before falling asleep. I'm currently reading The Pelican Brief, and liking it very much. I'm re-reading all my Stephen King and John Grisham novels. The good thing is, when you leave them on the book shelve for a couple of years, you've completely forgotten about the important story twists, so it's great reading them again!

High School Musical 3

The countdown has begun! This week High School Musical 3, starring (of course) Zac Efron, will premiere in Dutch cinema's!

This one's for the Dutchies

This one's strictly for the Dutchies: today, my favourite cartoon Fokke & Sukke is about Madonna's divorce!

Canada gets sticky and sweet

Sticky and Sweet has temporarily left the United States, as Madonna is now playing the Air Canada Center in Toronto, which is a giant ice hockey arena. Madonna plays the ACC two nights in a row. Canadian fans will also have the chance to see her show at the Bell Center in Montreal, and the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.

Yo-ho yo-ho, a pirate's life for Zac

Look what I found on the net!

Heartthrob Zac Efron will pick up the biggest pay check of his career when he signs on to star in the fourth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie, according to reports.

Disney bosses want to groom Efron to eventually replace Johnny Depp as the star of the franchise, and they are offering him $10 million to star alongside Captain Jack Sparrow in the next installment of the blockbuster film series.

A source says that Disney knew that Zac was reluctant to do any more High School Musical movies. He had already said there was ‘no way’ he’d return as Troy. So the Disney brass came up with an offer he couldn’t refuse.

In-demand Efron has also been slated to take over from Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe on Broadway when the Brit’s run in Equus comes to an end. The 21 year old hunk has denied those rumors.

Zac Efron calender 2009

Ziena got me this really cool Zac Efron 2009 calender! Yumyum!

Great party!

My housewarming party yesterday was just great, all day long! It started at about 2 PM, when my parents came over. They were joined later on by my brother, my sister with her two children, and two co-workers. The afternoon part of the party lasted until about 6 PM, after which I had about half an hour to myself.

The evening part started with my friend Bo being there very early (which was good). Quickly the guests arrived, so the house was filled already at about 10. So many people showed up, it was really crowded! Nice to know everyone is showing up for you!

I got great gifts as well, mostly a lot of plants for my new place. I'm very happy with that, since I really needed plants to warm the place up a bit. This afternoon I'm going to decide where I'll put them all.

All in all, a great party!

Party time

Today I will be celebrating my housewarming! This afternoon my family and a couple of co-workers are coming over, and tonight there will be a party for my friends!

Back in the saddle

After three days of staying at home sick, I finally went back to the office today, and I'm glad I did. I'm not one to sit around at home all day, as I get bored quite easily, so it's good to be back in the saddle and to be having things to do. The only downside was the fucked up weather this morning, causing me to arrive at work soaking wet.

Speaking of soaking wet, tonight Ziena and I are going swimming again, and probably will watch a movie or something afterwards. I'm not planning on making it too late, as this Saturday will be my housewarming party and of course I need to be fit for that. Also, I should not forget I've just been sick, so obviously there's no need pushing it.

Vote Obama!

Madonna makes no secret of her political colour! These really cool new Vote Obama shirts, in the well-known Sticky & Sweet Tour style, are now on sale in her Official Online Store!

Madonna and Guy, a photoblog

As the news of Madonna and Guy divorcing is making me very sad, I've decided to select 10 of their most memorable moments in pictures, be it on the red carpet, candid, or during the baptism of their son Rocco. It's sad, just too sad their relationship didn't last...

It's Official: Madonna and Guy to divorce

Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie are to divorce after nearly eight years of marriage, their spokeswoman has confirmed.

The announcement follows months of speculation that the couple's relationship was in trouble.

A statement e-mailed to The Associated Press from Liz Rosenberg said that the couple had agreed to divorce, and requested the media maintain respect their privacy.
The statement, co-signed by Ritchie's representative, said the couple had not agreed to a settlement.

In July, Madonna's publicist denied the pair were planning to divorce, saying their marriage did not "need saving".
They appeared together at last month's premiere of Ritchie's RocknRolla in London and posed for photographs. Guy Ritchie and Madonna married in December 2000 in the Highlands.

Divorce rumour update

A spokeswoman for Madonna told the BBC News website that there would be no comment until the working day had begun in the US.

Also, the singer's publicist today refused to dispell the fresh claims, instead conceeding to the UK Metro she had to "wait for America to wake up before she knew anything more".

Could it be true?

Could it be true this time? We all know the press have been announcing a divorce for the full 8 years Madonna and Guy Ritchie have been married, but this time it's a full media frenzy all over the world at the same time. Could this mean it's finally over?

Getting better

Thankfully, I woke up this morning after a full night sleep, so as I'm writing this I am feeling a lot better than I did Monday and yesterday. My throat is beginning to feel less soar as well, so if this stays on for the rest of the day, I think it's safe to go back to work tomorrow. Good thing too, as I'm beginning to feel bored with staying in.

A divorce?

Take this with a grain of salt, but nonetheless:

Madonna and her husband, film director Guy Ritchie, are to divorce, it has been reported.

The couple, who have been married for nearly eight years, are to announce their split "imminently", according to the British media.

There has been increasing speculation in recent months that the couple's relationship was on the rocks.

In July, Madonna's publicist denied the pair were planning to divorce, saying their marriage did not "need saving".
