Important tour news

The touring industry is ebullient since Madonna has extended her Sticky & Sweet Tour for a second year, something she has never done - TicketNews.com reports on Friday.
Sixteen concert dates have been released, and the London concert is the only repeat market from last year. The rest of the tour will include appearances in cities she has never performed in before, including a few cities that she has not performed in for more than 15 years. Shows are to be announced for Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Romania and Serbia.

Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring/Artist Nation, advised TicketNews that there is "no chance for a North American extension of the tour."

And despite reports in the Australian media that four concerts are scheduled for an September/October outing Down Under, Fogel said that there is no validity to the reports (which, your editor would like to point out, is rather different than saying "no chance" like Fogel says about North America).

New on Totally Theo

Totally Theo's got a new feature: a weekly poll! From now on, every Saturday I will post a new poll for you to vote on. Just click on any of the choices on the left of this page!

Today's first poll is: What's your favourite Madonna tour.

Don't forget: vote or die!

Madonna at Werchter

This is where I'll be seeing Madonna on July 11, in Werchter, Belgium.

For the record, Madonna is not playing the Rock Werchter festival, she just playing at the festival field a couple of weeks after the festival. Her show will be a regular Sticky & Sweet show, in nice outdoor setting!

Just gorgeous

Jason Beitel, looking yumyum! I really need to meet this guy!

X Factor

A new season of X Factor has started in the Netherlands, and it's already hilarious! The auditions are sometimes painfull to watch, which is what makes it all the more fun. Do these people really think they can sing? I mean, I like to sing as well, but I know I suck in it, so I limit myself to the shower, or someplace else where no-one can hear me. To go on national television and make yourself look stupid, like these people do, is something I would never even consider.

Still, it makes for good television!

Sticky & Sweet schedule

I'm planning on going to London, Manchester and Werchter!!!

Sticky & Sweet 2009 press release

MADONNA'S 'STICKY & SWEET TOUR' GOES BACK ON THE ROAD SUMMER 2009
Special Guest Paul Oakenfold To Open All Shows.

Madonna's phenomenally successful 'Sticky & Sweet Tour', already the #1 Biggest Grossing Tour in history for a solo artist, will embark on another series of shows beginning July 4th in London. (Schedule follows this release). Stops will include appearances in never before played markets such as Werchter Belgium, Marseille France, Hamburg Germany, Oslo Norway, Helsinki Finland, Tallinn Estonia, Ljubljana Slovenia as well as stops in Romania, Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria it was confirmed today by Live Nation. Additional appearances by Madonna will include return visits after more than 15 years to Madrid, Gothenburg and Munich.

"This is a first for me. I've never extended a tour before. I'm excited to be going back on the road, visiting places I've never been and returning to places I love" commented Madonna about the new run of dates.

Raves around the globe for the tour include the London Times which remarked, "In the premiere league of song-and-dance spectaculars, the queen of pop remains unrivaled and undefeated." "The choreography, visuals and live talent were world class and mind-blowingly well executed, intelligent and witty," glowed The Independent (UK).

In 2008, the 'Sticky & Sweet Tour' was seen by 2,350,285 fans in 58 cities. With record breaking ticket sales everywhere, including 650,000 tickets sold in her series of South American dates, 72,000 tickets at Zurich's Dübendorf Airfield - the largest audience ever assembled for a show in Switzerland, 75,000 tickets in London and four sell outs in New York's Madison Square Garden (60,364 tickets).

"This new run of dates will further solidify Madonna's position as one of the top selling touring artists of all time," said Arthur Fogel, Live Nation's Chairman of Global Music and CEO of Global Touring/Artist Nation.

Special Guest for Sticky & Sweet 2009, Paul Oakenfold has long been one of the most important - if not the most important - name in modern club culture. He has remixed The Rolling Stones U2, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dog, Muse New Order, The Cure, Massive Attack and even Elvis Presley and produced The Happy Mondays. The two time Grammy nominee is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the biggest DJ in the world. His new artist album, 'Pop Killer' is due out later this year.

Madonna's multi-Grammy-nominated CD 'Hard Candy' debuted at Number One in over 37 countries.

Official announcement today

Madonna will crank up her Sticky & Sweet Tour again this summer with about 25 more shows in the U.K. and Europe. The initial trek wrapped December 21 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The final leg of the tour - already the top-grossing tour ever by a female or solo artist - will start in London at the O2 Arena on July 4. Madonna also will play the Manchester MEN Arena. The rest of the shows on the tour will be at stadiums in European markets that Madonna has never played or hasn't played in several years, according to tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation. The complete route and list of venues will be released today.

Adding another leg to a tour is a highly unusual move for Madonna. "It absolutely has not happened in the four tours I've been involved with," Fogel told Billboard.com. "There has been talk (of extending) during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she's had a great time and she's excited about playing new markets."

The extension will take Sticky & Sweet to around 80 shows, and boost it well into the top five grossing tours of all time. Despite the more than six-month break, the tour will feature the same production and performers as in 2008.

The Sticky & Sweet tour was the first under a 10-year multi-rights agreement between Madonna and Live Nation, valued in some reports at about $120 million.

2.0 Tour rumours

MadonnaTribe has heard that the 2.0 version of the Sticky and Sweet Tour will reach Italy on July 14th 2009. The venue will be, as previously reported, San Siro stadium in Milan. Several Italian music radio stations have also started reporting now that July 14 is going to be Madonna Day in the country.
We also heard that the new version of the Sticky & Sweet Tour will be touching two cities in the United Kingdom, one being London in the first week of July with the O2 as the chosen venue. Other concert dates are planned, among others, in two cities in Spain, and two cities in Germany.

There is also a page currently set up for Madonna at the Live Nation website for Poland

Blake and Penn

Blake Lively and Penn Badgley in the pool, both looking pretty good!

Kylie and Gaultier

Kylie Minogue went to the Jean Paul Gaultier fashion show in Paris, looking absolutely stunning (and lovely)!

Fish by any other name

I'm very sympethetic of animal rights and everything, but this is just absurd (taken from a PETA press release):

"People don't seem to like fish. They're slithery and slimy, and they have eyes on either side of their pointy little heads—which is weird, to say the least. Plus, the small ones nibble at your feet when you're swimming, and the big ones—well, the big ones will bite your face off if Jaws is anything to go by.

"Of course, if you look at it another way, what all this really means is that fish need to fire their PR guy—stat. Whoever was in charge of creating a positive image for fish needs to go right back to working on the Britney Spears account and leave our scaly little friends alone. You've done enough damage, buddy. We've got it from here. And we're going to start by retiring the old name for good. When your name can also be used as a verb that means driving a hook through your head, it's time for a serious image makeover. And who could possibly want to put a hook through a sea kitten."

Paris Hilton is a stupid whore

Paris Hilton is the in UK this week to promote some stupid new real life show. When asked who was the prime minister of Great Britain, she answered Gordon Ramsay...

Need I say any more?

Meet Joe Black

However, also on Dutch TV tonight is Meet Joe Black, starring yumyum Brad Pit... choices, choices...

Oh well, I can always buy Meet Joe Black on DVD, I'm gonna choose Guus!

Guus on Dutch TV

Right now on Dutch television, Guus Meeuwis' Groots Met Een Zachte G concert from 2008, the one I will be going to in Heerenveen this year!

A Certain Sacrifice

I bought myself A Certain Sacrifice today through Play.com! A Certain Sacrifice, of course, is Madonna's first ever movie, even before Desperately Seeking Susan!

Conservapedia is so much fun

And speaking of Christian Right...

You should really, really REALLY go to Conservadepia to have a really good laugh! Conservapedia, which advertises itself with the slogan 'The trustworthy encyclopedia' is the Christian Right version of Wikipedia.

It poses itselfs as a encyclopedia, but is nothing like it, actually, it only serves as another outlet of conservative opinions, and no facts at all. In the process,it even spreads lies and hate speech.

To have a laugh, go there (just click on the link above) and look for the following topics:

Public school culture
Hollywood values
Barack Obama

These are just three, of countless hilarious pages spreading absolutele rubbish. Go and have a look, I'm sure you'll have hours of fun!

How stupid can you get

I found the follwing story from out lunatic friends frm OnewNewsNow extremely ignorant, up to the point where it's not even funny anymore. Really, when birt control is in to reduce teenage pregnancy, do you really think it would harm the nation's economy? You (the Christian Right) really want there to be tens of thousands trailer park families with no income, and no financial reserve (how could they, you, the Christian Right, are denying them any kind of medical insurance)? I thought Christian Right was so low on people with no income... well at least, that's what your websites are telling me all the time...

How fucking and utter stupid can you get???

A multi-million dollar proposal for contraception and abortion has been removed from the huge economic stimulus bill. But the bill still contains funding for controversial projects.

Earlier this week Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) vehemently defended the idea of spending millions of dollars on birth control and abortion as part of the economic stimulus package. "Contraception will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government," she stated on ABC. But after pro-life advocates -- including several in Congress -- cast a spotlight on that portion of the package, it was removed. The U.S. House passed the stimulus package on Wednesday and has now passed it on to the Senate.

However, as Wendy Wright of Concerned Women for America (CWA) points out, Planned Parenthood and others are still seeking money through the stimulus package to reduce population and promote "safe sex" programs for youth. Wright says it does not make sense. "The economic stimulus bill shifts the burden of the debt onto the next generation; yet if we are spending billions of more dollars in 'family planning,' there won't be much of a next generation to pay this huge debt," she argues.

In a CWA press release, Wright points out the $825-billion stimulus package halts funding for abstinence education programs while including $335 million for sexually transmitted disease (STD) education and prevention programs. She notes that the Centers for Disease Control -- a recipient of STD education funding -- previously has used federal funds for programs that she says "may stimulate some people, but not the economy."

"A transgender beauty pageant in San Francisco that advertised available HIV testing, that funded an event called 'Got Love? – Flirt/Date/Score' that taught participants how to flirt with greater finesse," the family advocate notes, "and also funded events called 'Booty Call' and 'Great Sex' put on by an organization that received nearly $700,000 in government funds."

Simply put, says Wright, the economic stimulus bill still funds programs that "encourage irresponsible sexual activity that increases healthcare costs."

Welcome to E! TV

I just got a pageview from someone working for E! Entertainment Television, which is pretty exciting! If I lived anywhere near Los Angeles, I would have wanted to work there!

Welcome, E! visitor! Make sure to visit me again!

Kelly Clarkson beats U2 big time

The new U2 single, Get On Your Boots, came in at #21 on the Soundscan USA singles chart this week. The song sold just 57,267 copies in the past week in the U.S, which is extremely low for a band as big as U2.

At the same time, Kelly Clarkson's fantastic new single My Life Would Suck Without You, is a huge hit, entering straight at #1 and selling 279605 copies in the United States aloe, which is more than 4 times the amount U2 has sold.

I have to say, I really love the Kelly Clarkson song, and I must admit the U2 song really sucks big time!

High School Musical 3 wallpaper

There you go: an official High School Musical 3 wallpaper, with a picture of Zac Efron, but not Vanessa Hudgens, just the way it should be!

Not too old to rock

They may both be over 50, but they aren't too old to rock. After short breaks, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are returning to the road. Details on the next leg of Madge's "Sticky & Sweet" tour are scant; her website only confirms that she will be hitting a number of European cities this summer.

Springsteen, who plays the Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 1, officially starts a new tour April 1 at HP Pavilion, San Jose, Calif. The tour is in support of "Working on a Dream," his new album out today.

Both are touring powerhouses-and for good reason: very few performers offer shows as strong as theirs. Even though their concerts couldn't be more different, they both share a work ethic and desire to give their fans a truly unique experience. An evening spent with either is never wasted.

Springsteen is all rock and roll muscle. His shows, like his music, are all about the connection with his E Street bandmates and the audience. There are no fireworks or massive light show. It's music, music, music. it's all about the music and the performance.

Madonna's show is a three-ring spectacle with dazzling production number followed by brilliant, often thought-provoking production number. She's always mesmerizing and what she lacks in a connection with the audience (trust me, I've seen her a number of times and I've always felt like, as magnificent as she is, she may as well be performing behind glass) is more than made up for by the sheer effort and dedication that goes into the show.
Springsteen and Madonna are also masters at the box office. Springsteen truly was the Boss on the road last year. According to Billboard, his 2008 tour dates grossed $204 million, making him the second-highest grossing tour act of the year behind Bon Jovi. Madonna, with less than half of Springsteen's 82 dates, came in at No. 3, grossing $185 million.

Ziggo Dome

Really great news from Amsterdam! In 2011 there will be a new concert arena, called the Ziggo Dome (Ziggo is a broadband internet and tv company in the Netherlands, lending its name through a sponsorship deal). The new arena is designed to have a capacity of 15600 people, and to compete directly with Ahoy Rotterdam.

The ArenA Boulevard will become a real musical hub now, with the Amsterdam ArenA, Heineken Music Hall and now the Ziggo Dome located there!

It's official!

It's official!!! Madonna.com has just officially confirmed (see picture above) Madonna's European Summer 2009 Tour!!!

Madonna in Florida

Madonna, who’s been practicing her horse-jumping skills in Wellington for a week, made her first appearance at the Winter Equestrian Festival Sunday.

She watched professional show-jumpers for nearly two hours from her third-row $35,000-per-season table at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center’s VIP club.

The Material Girl managed to go practically incognito behind thick dark glasses and under an orange baseball hat with a Che Guevara-like silhouette of her on the front. Actually, the hat looks more like something from Madonna's own American Life album merchandise!

Story and picture thanks to Page2Live.

Circus Tour setlist

Here you have what is rumoured to be the setlist of Britney Spears's Circus Tour 2009:

Circus
Break The Ice
Breathe On Me
Lace And Leather
Kill The Lights
Freashow
Mannequin
I´m A Slave For You
Out From Under
Radar
If U Seek Amy
Baby One More Time
Do Something
Toxic
Piece Of Me
Gimme More
Womanizer
Stronger

What do you think? Will she be singing any of these songs live, or will it be another lip synch spectacle like the last two tours, Dream Within A Dream and Onyx Hotel?

The week so far

Today when I got back from work, I did some groceries and found a new snack for my rabbit. It's like a stick to chew on with vegetables coming off, and she loves it! She's been chewing on it for over two hours now, which is cute to look at.

Work has been busy, both yesterday and today. It's the week of the month when we're at our busiest, but as I wrote before, that's the way I like it. It will probably stay this way the rest of the week, so as you can imagine the days are going by really fast.

The weekend has been fun as well! I've been going out with friends on both Thursday, Friday and Saturday night, and went to visit my parents on Sunday. In other words: the weekend went by way too fast!

Helsinki gets Sticky & Sweet?

According to reports by Finnish tv channel MTV3 Madonna seems to be confirmed for a show in Helsinki, Finland.

Jätkäsaari, the rumoured venue, is a former dock area in the city with a capacity up to 80,000 people that would be used to organize a live event for the first time. If this materializes, it will be the biggest concert ever in Finland. MTV3 reports that an official confirmation is expected in a few days.

There's more and more indication the Sticky & Sweet Tor will indeed have a Summer 2009 extension!

3 Movies in 1 time

All three Madonna movies I ordered from Play.com arrived today! Dick Tracey, A League Of Their Own and Swept Away have been added to my collection!

Rock Witchu cancelled - again

Janet Jackson has cancelled the entire Japanese leg of her Rock Witchu Tour, supposedly because of the economical crisis. Yeah right, in other words: because of the lack of ticket sales. This is the same tour that had 7 shows cancelled because of poor ticket sales in the United States a couple of months ago.

She was popular once, wasn't she?

Even more Zac Efron

Thanks to Perez Hilton for this picture of Zac Efron in Japan, where he is to promote High School Musical 3.

Viva Espana

My friend Chris and I talked a bit on the phone about our summer vacation: it's probably going to be Spain!

Another shark attack

Another fatal shark attack. This time, a young lifeguard has been killed by a tiger shark in South Africa. It's strange, it seems to me this year shark attacks have increased big time. Could it be that overfishing is bringing them closer to the shore looking for food?
I for one would never set foot in waters where sharks are known to be aound, such as Australia or South Africa.

Busted: Zac Efron

We'll end the weekend just as we started it: with a nice Zac Efron paparazzi shot!

South Park marathon

My new South Park box (season 9) is great! I've spend the entire morning watching one of the three discs, and I'm about to start the second one. Amazing how this show keeps staying funny even though there are so many seasons yet!

The second leg

So for once the rumours - or part of them - seem to be true.
MadonnaTribe has heard and can report that the Madonna team is indeed working on plans to hit the road again this Summer.

It won't be a proper new tour, but rather an extension of last year's show. It is currently planned to last two months - July and August - and it should mainly visit cities where the 2008 tour hasn't stopped. Also. as of now, this is shaped as a European tour only.

It is probably too early to say which countries will be included. Marseille in France made the headlines today with yet to be confirmed reports of Madonna performing at the Velodrome in mid-July.
The other stops that have been mentioned the most by the rumour mill so far have been Milan, Italy, where Madonna is rumoured to play San Siro's Meazza Stadium, and a short residency at Greenwich's O2 Arena in London, England.

There is certainly a lot more in the making so it will be better to wait until an official announcement turns rumours into facts, but the most discussed topic in the Madonna online community in this beginning of 2009 seems indeed to be true: Madonna will extend the Sticky & Sweet tour with a revamped show next Summer.

Couture

Kylie has released her fifth fragrance in the UK this week. Entitled Couture the fragrance is described as capturing the essence of Kylie’s effortless elegance and passion for life in a sparkling and sophisticated floral, musky scent that exudes elegance and modernity.

The fragrance opens with an enchanting bouquet of amarena cherry, lemon flower and vintage violet. It builds to a deeper heart of exotic ylang ylang, night blooming jasmine and passionflower that illuminates the heart of the fragrance with its subtle exotic scent. The base notes are composed of musk ribbons which give the enveloping feeling of cashmere while the addiction of vanilla sorbet rests upon the timeless elegance of white cedarwood, for a long lasting femininity. The final result reveals a new dimension of Kylie, created around her personality like a tailor made couture gown.

Kylie Minogue Couture is available now at Boots in the UK, in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml Eau de Toilette.

No Glastonbury

Glastonbury Festival organiser Michael Eavis seemed to put an end to the rumours about Madonna headlining this week's edition, as he talked to the Western Daily Press about how they are trying to alterate the event's pace to avoid clash with the Olympic Games in 2012.

The globally-renowned Somerset shindig takes a break every few years to give organiser's Worthy Farm a chance to recover. But the organisers have revealed they are now hoping to extend their current licence and have their next 'fallow' year in 2012.

Three of the most hotly-tipped acts for this year's edition have been Bruce Springsteen, the recently reformed Blur, and Neil Young.
Mr Eavis laughed when these names were put to him and refused to confirm or deny whether any of those stars would be at Pilton this summer. However, he did say rumour-mongers have not got it completely right with one big name who is set to appear yet to be mentioned.

He said: "There's one missing out there that is a really good one that people haven't latched on to yet, so I'm very pleased about that. It's good to have one surprise."
He then ended rumours of Madonna making an appearance, adding, "No, that's not a good one".

Heath Ledger - one year ago

Today, January 22, it's exactly one year ago Heath Ledger died. Time goes by so fast, doesn't it?

To the mediterranean sea

My friend Chris and I spoke about taking a vacation to the mediterranean sea somewhere next summer. Plans haven't been finalized to say the least, but the prospect of going someplace warm next summer does sound very appealing. I've never been to one of the mediterranean countries before (well, Italy, but I went to Rome, so I didn't actually get to see the sea) so it would be a first.
