My friend Bo got promoted to PhD today at the University of Utrecht, so I took an early train this morning to go there and join the festivities
As he promoted in Physics, I didn't understand a word of his discussion with the promotion commission, but it was nice to see anyway. He even thanked me in his thesis, which I thought was a very nice thing to do.
After the official part of te ceremony, thre was a nice function in another room of the University building.
Then, we went for a restaurant which he partly rented to have lunch, which rounded up a great morning/afternoon.
