Sky1 broadcasted Sticky & Sweet, Live From Buenos Aires tonight, and thanks to the live stream, I was able to watch while not being in the UK.
So, I've seen the television version now of what is to become the DVD in September, and what are my thoughts? First of all, I won't go into the show itself, since the show was fantastic, and I've loved it all four times I saw it last year (Amsterdam Arena, Dusseldorf LTU Arena and twice at Paris Stade De France).
However, I've got a couple of pro's and con's to the DVD, so here we go:
Pro:
The show has been filmed in an almost heavenly beauty. It's so much fun to watch it, and you just want to go out and dance and sing, get up and do your thing. The way they've filmed it is exactly the kind of party the show really was!
The show was filmed at River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires. It´s great to see a Madonna DVD filmed in a stadium once again, instead of an arena. The last time we had a stadium Madonna DVD, was during the Girlie Show era, when she filmed the show at Sydney Cricket Grounds Stadium.
Buenos Aires was a great city to film the show, as this was the only city in the world to get Don't Cry For Me Argentina as an extra song to You Must Love Me.
All the interludes and song intro's were kept into place: Die Another Day, Rain, Doli Doli and Get Stupid.
Contra's:
The Sweet Machine intro was heavily edited, to the point where it didn't make any sense anymore.
Madonna's vocals have been edited so much she doesn't sound live anymore on many songs. Most notibly: Beat Goes On, Heartbeat, Borderline, Ray Of Light. I've been to this tour 4 times and let me tell you: she doesn't sound nearly as good as this live. People can easily see real live video's on YouTube, so I don't really get it why she's being so stupid to edit this much...
The happy sing-a-long in between Ray Of Light and Hung Up was gone. Why? This was such a great moment of the show every day...
In the end, I loved the broadcast! I hope for the DVD the will put in the entire intro and the sing-a-long, but even if they don't, it's a great watch!
