Great news: there will not only be a Scream 4, but also a Scream 5 and Scream 6. In fact, there's going to be a whole new trilogy, just as the first three Scream movies formed a trilogy together!
Creator Kevin Williamson told If Magazine:
[Exec. Producer] Bob Weinstein has been bugging me a hundred billion years, "Let’s do it. Let’s do it." Wes [Craven] and I were like "no way." Then finally I was taking some time off, sitting around thinking "what if I had to do Scream 4?" I wasn’t interested, [but then I thought] "a trilogy – now I’d be interested! Could we do that and develop a trilogy?" and then I started thinking about the story. I created three different chapters, broke it up and I got really excited.
Kevin also told the magazine Scream 4 will pick up 10 years after Scream 3, so the story is set in real time (Scream 3 was released in 2000, Scream 6 will be released in 2010).
A lot of exciting news, but unfortunately there's also one downside.... Neve Campbell won't be joining, so there won't be any Sydney Prescott for the killer to stalk. Can't she just do a cameo and get brutally killed off in the first scene? That would awesome!
