The American Family Association (AFA) has suspended its boycott of PepsiCo. Several months ago, the Mississippi-based hate group called for the boycott because of PepsiCo's support of gay rights groups. If you didn't even know about this boycott, you're forgiven. Since the AFA has no influence whatsoever, it's quite possibly you've never read anything about this ridiculous boycott.
Now that it's obvious Pepsi has lost absolutely no market share and stocks have actually gone up since the boycott, they finally realise this is not going to work. Of course, the AFA needed some kind of twist as to why the boycott ends, so they're now saying PepsiCo has suspended it's funding to gay rights groups. Since this is not true, I wonder if the AFA conveniently leaves 'thou shalt not lie' out of their version of the ten commandments.
Sounds a lot like the botched Disney boycott several years ago. That one didn't exactly go over very well either, and so the AFA ended it by saying 'we've made our point', which basically means 'no-one gives a crap about what we think'.
Congratulations to PepsiCo!
