Because of the Winter Olympics, Vancouver is all over the news currently. So, it's only logical to include it in my 50 part City Of The Day feature. Here are the three highlights:
1) Stanley Park is a 404.9 hectares urban park bordering downtown Vancouver. It is more than 10% larger than New York City's Central Park and almost half the size of London's Richmond Park. The park attracts an estimated eight million visitors every year, including locals and tourists, who come for its recreational facilities and its natural attributes.
2) The Vancouver Maritime Museum is a Maritime museum devoted to presenting the maritime history of Vancouver, British Columbia, and the Canadian Arctic. About to celebrate its 50th year of operating it is located just west of False Creek on the Vancouver waterfront. The main exhibit is the St. Roch, an historic arctic exploration vessel used by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
3) BC Place is a multipurpose stadium and Canada's first domed arena. BC Place is the largest air-supported stadium in the world. BC Place is busy with over 200 event days per year.
This is part 22 out of a series of 50. Next city tomorrow: Auckland.
