Future husband

In my world it's official: I'm getting married to Jason Beitel, the gorgeous dancer from Kylie Minogue's Money Can't Buy, ShowGirl, HomeComing, KylieX2008, KylieUSA2009 and hopefully Aphrodite 2010 tours.

Well, okay, I may not be getting married to him, but here's a nice pic to cheer both me and you up anyway!

Box office war

The release date of Zac Efron's new film, The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud, has been pushed up to July 30. That happens to be the same day girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens‘ Beastly comes out.

Who will win at the box office?

Not selling

This is not good! Rumour has it only 20% of tickets for Rihanna's North American Last Girl On Earth shows have sold. Why such a low number? Rude Boy is Rihanna's biggest hit in the United States since Umbrella, so you'd think they'd be running for tickets?

I've seen the show two weeks ago at Gelredome in Arnhem, and loved it. So, American readers, if you haven't bought your tickets yet, do so now!

Live at Montreux

According to the festival program, Tori Amos will be returning to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, performing at Miles Davis Hall on Friday, July 9th.

This is a tradition by now, Tori performs at the festival almost every year.

Waka waka

Click here to listen to the official FIFA World Cup song Waka Waka (Time For Africa) by Shakira.

I'm definitely not a Shakira fan since her shiteous concert at Gelredome Stadium in Arnhem back in 2007, but I do have to admit I actually like this song. What do you think?

Happy birthday

Happy birthday to Jessica Alba, who turns 29 today!

The Hobbit

Okay, Lord Of The Rings fans: it has been announced today that The Hobbit, the new Warner Bros movie, will be released in December 2013. That's an awful lot of time to make a movie, isn't it?

So, for anyone hoping on a release date a little bit closer, too bad... And think about it, movies get pushed back all the time, so The Hobbit might even see a release date no earlier than 2014.

Chewing addiction

Is she crazy or what? Jessica Simpson was on The Tonight Show last night, where she admitted she's addicted to nicorette gum, which is usually a way of getting out of a smoking habit. The thing is, she also admitted she's never smoked a cigarette in her life, so what the ef is she doing chewing nicotine gum?!

If any more prove was needed she's really a bit insane, there you have it.

Love dealer

Dutch singer Esmee Denters new single Love Dealer is out, featuring vocals by Justin Timberlake, who was the one who signed her to a record label in the first place.

I don't know if you've heard it yet, but to me it sounds like another 'been there done that' Esmee tune. I've seen her 'live' (with loads of backing tapes and overdubs) as the opening acht of Enrique Iglesias at Ahoy Rotterdam, and although I think it's nice a Dutch singer is making it big around the world, I really, really don't like her music.

If U seek Amy

Jennifer Lopez showed up at the premiere of her new movie The Back-Up Plan at Leicester Square in West End London, looking very much (hair-wise, that is) like Amy Winehouse.

Is the beehive back?

Unique experience

Breaking Dawn, the fourth part of The Twilight Saga, finally found itself a director. Dreamgirls director Bill Condon was already rumoured, but now it's official he will be the one. He says:

“I’m very excited to get the chance to bring the climax of this saga to life on-screen. As fans of the series know, this is a one-of-a-kind book - and we’re hoping to create an equally unique cinematic experience.”

Coolness!

The Kennedys

Katie Holmes is set to play Jackie Kennedy in The History Channel’s new miniseries, The Kennedys, which will air in 2011.

Greg Kinnear will star as President John F. Kennedy, with further roles yet to be confirmed.

No easy soundbite

“It’s been a long time coming. It’s hard, as any of these things are. It’s hard to do it in public because there’s no easy sound bite to say, this is what happened and so this is what’s going on. And even if I did, the perspectives would always be different so there’s a lot of sadness. And yet, she’ll always be in my life because we have two children.”

Melissa Etheridge, talking about her split from Tammy Lynn.

This was the best?

Okay, so normally I like the way she looks, but this new picture of Leona Lewis, on the cover of the June 2010 issue if Instyle UK Magazine just sucks. Surely they could find a better one, you'd think?

Naughty kitty

As promised, Christina Aguilera is still releasing one picture per day from her new video Not Myself Tonight. The video will premiere this Friday on Vevo. Today's picture shows Christina as a naughty kitty, looking for milk.

Phone fun

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria and Victoria Beckham are in the new LG commercial to promote their new phones. They will also attend a kick-off fashion party in Los Angeles on May 24.

Who is Aziz?

Zac Efron, Kristen Bell and Diddy team up with MTV to poke fun at Parks and Recreation star Aziz Ansari, who’s set to host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.

The trio answer the critical question “Who is Aziz?” Click here to watch.

The ceremony will air LIVE on Sunday, June 6 from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles.

Single parent

Sandra Bullock has officially filed for divorce from her cheating-ass husband Jesse James. She tells People Magazine it hasn't been an easy decision (obviously). However, she also has some good news to share with the audience: it turns out, she has secretly been in the process of adopting baby Louis Bardo Bullock, 3 and a half months, from New Orleans.

The baby was to be raised by Sandra and her husband, but now that he ruined everything, she's going to be a single parent.

Congratulations!

Highest rated

Obviously, this was to be expected, but it's worth mentioning anyway: Glee has been the highest rated new scripted show on American television this season. No less than an average of 12,6 million viewers watched each episode.

Unfortunately there's no Glee on Dutch television yet. I hope it comes on here as soon as possible!

It's an elephant's job

How cute is this? An elephant working on a broken car, and spraying it with water, at West Midland Safari Park, in Bewdley. Great photo's!

It's a dangerous world after all

The accidents at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida just keep piling up. This time a British tourist was rushed to hospital in Florida with horrific injuries after a Disney World ferry smashed into her motor boat.

Barbara Wormald, 61, was in a two-seat boat with husband Michael when they collided with the larger vessel. The couple, from Skipton, North Yorkshire, were on holiday when the smash happened on the waterways at Disney's Treehouse Village (pictured above).

What's next? Splash Mountain collapsing?

Dance floor dynamite

British tabloid The Sun picked up the news about Kylie Minogue´s new album Aphrodite being a dance-pop party record. Here's what they wrote:

KYLIE MINOGUE has canned the ballads in a bid to make her new album dance floor dynamite.
Gaps between songs have also been removed to ensure there are no troughs in upcoming release Aphrodite.

The collection, out in July, has been masterminded by top knob-twiddler STUART PRICE.

He was the man who so successfully directed MADONNA to the disco on her 2005 album Confessions On A Dance Floor.

The more publicity Aphrodite gets, the more chance it has to get to number one!

Good heart

"My job on stage is to make someone else look good, which is the hardest part. But while Madonna is tough on the job, she is laid back in real life and a very kind person with a good heart. Very few people are that close to her, but as soon as she trusts you, she is even more demanding. I don’t consider myself an employee, I'm a friend and someone she knows is talented enough to handle the job."

Madonna tour dancer and choreographer Steve Nestar, who is probably still under contract with Madonna, has nothing but nice words about her, like everyone who gets paid by her.

40 Days and 40 nights

Tonight on Dutch television: 40 Days And 40 Nights, starring Josh Hartnett, Shannyn Sossamon and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

RIP Ambrose Olsen

Male model Ambrose Olsen died last Thursday aged 24, it was revealed today. The cause of death hasn't been released by the police yet. He will be buried in New York this Friday.

Ambrose worked for Armani,Hugo Boss, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Yves Saint Laurent.

Rest in peace.

Camp rock tour

The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and the rest of the cast of the Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam movie will be heading out on a worldwide concert tour. The three continent concert tour begins July 27 in Dallas, Texas. Tickets can be purchased at LiveNation.

Tour video

P!nk is shooting a video today for her Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour, she wrote on her Twitter account. Her husband Carey Hart will have a part in it as well, and according to P!nk, there's some 'weird shit going on'.

Hopefully she'll release a DVD from the tour, as unfortunately I won't be attending this one (luckily I've seen I'm Not Dead once, and Funhouse twice).

Cactus Festival

Tickets for the Cactusfestival in Brugge, Belgium where Tori Amos is playing on Sunday, July 11th, are on sale as of today.

Prices start at €36.00 for single-day admission and go up to €85.00 for the full weekend. Tickets are being sold through Ticketmatic.

Glee ratings

The UK broadcast of the much-hyped Madonna episode of Glee on E4 yesterday night was seen by a total audience of around 1.9 million, early figures suggest.

The episode brought in an impressive 1.42m (5.7%) to E4 in the 9pm hour, helping the channel beat parent station Channel 4 in the timeslot.
A further 458k (2.6%) watched the episode an hour later on timeshift station E4+1. E4's combined primetime share last night was 3.8%, level with Five.

The audience for Glee was on par with the figures for its record return a week earlier, according to ratings data supplied by Attentional.

Returning to Woodsboro

Not a day goes by without some tidbits about Scream 4. Today's no exception, with these new quotes from script writer Kevin Williamson:

"I am contracted for 4 and 5, but the deal for 6 is not done. I mean, I pitched three films. The story is about returning to Woodsboro, and Scream 5 — knock on wood, if we actually get to it, because 4 has to be good in order for us to make a 5 — 5 will be a continuation of 4, but 4 is its own movie. I just think the most important thing is Scream needs to be scary. If we make it scary, then I think we'll have done our jobs, and it won't matter whether it's a post-post-modern revision/deconstruction."

Can't wait for the movie(s)!

Box office reports

Uh-oh! Apparently, Kelly Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted Tour didn't go over very well in Australia. According to eye witness accounts, Kelly played to half empty arenas in most cities Down Under. For instance, according to box office reports, at her concert in Newcastle on April 15th, Kelly performed to 2,308 people at the Newcastle Entertainment Center, which has a capacity of 5,146 people.

I've seen the show at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, and loved it. Hope the rest of the tour is a success!

Completely insane

What the hell is going on with these people?! Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, has told the press his daughter is HIV positive, and now Lindsay is responding to it in the media as well:

“He’s a grown man and has done the exact same things on TV/interviews, [so] why wouldn’t he lie on Twitter, and everywhere else! He just wants money – and he’s using me, my name, my status, my mother, brothers and sister for the cash to pay for [another] wedding.“

That whole family is completely insane.

Slutty self

Christina Aguilera has released another photo from the set of her Not Myself Tonight video, and it appears she's back to her slutty self... The complete video will be released this Friday on Vevo.

Pop idol instinct

Will Young, the winner of the very first Pop Idol, many years ago, is on the cover of Instinct Magazine, looking awfully cute. Good news for American fans: he is soon to perform on American Idol.

Everyone is excited

After daughters Isabella, 3, and Gia, 21 months, Matt Damon and his wife, Luciana, are expecting their third child!!

According to their spokesperson 'Everyone is excited.'. Congratulations!

Million dollar bill - live in London

And finally, Million Dollar Bill, the closing song of Whitney Houston's Nothing But Love Tour, at the O2 Arena in London.

From what I've heard from the media, half the audience already left during this song... Which isn't too bad, by the way, since Whitney barely sings any lyrics herself, instead relying completely on the backup singers.

I look to you - live in London

You'd almost wish someone would take her out of her suffering... Whitney Houston singing I Look To You during the Nothing But Love Tour at the O2 Arena in London, this past weekend.

I wanna dance with somebody - live in London

Another excrutiating performance from Whitney Houston's Nothing But Love Tour, at the O2 Arena in London this weekend.

Listen in horror!

I will always love you - live in London

And while we're on the subject of the disastrous Whitney Houston concert at the O2 Arena in London. Let's watch some videos from the horrendous performance.

Here we go, with the most shiteous version of I Will Always Love You you have ever, ever heard! It's even worse than the previously version we heard from Brisbane and other cities during the Nothing But Love Tour.

Time to retire

Just a few response The Daily Mail got after Whitney Houston's concert at the O2 Arena in London:

"She should go out while her dignity is still intact. Admit it woman, it is time to leave the stage."

"I think everyone should be offered their money back. It seems rather fraudulent of her management to agree to put on shows starring this person when she is clearly not good enough any more. She should have quit when she was ahead. But then her entourage would not have a job, would they!"

"I was there, it was the most terrible concert I have ever been to, a complete waste of money."

"I was bitterly disappointed last night as it was painful to witness. I have been a fan for 25 years and gave her the benefit of the doubt...but what a let down. She clearly wasn't up to this tour and maybe someone should have stopped her from going on with it. She even got her backing singer to finish off the high notes for her! She said that her Mother was in the audience, well perhaps Mum should have given some advice to her daughter about not embarassing herself further, or was it greed? I paid £115 for my ticket and it was a complete waste of money. I feel that it is a Fraud selling tickets for something so substandard!"

"Poor thing. Why is she continuing to embarrass herself?"

Guess it's time to retire!

Wardrobe malfunction

Many stars do it on purpose, but this wardrobe malfunction actually looks like it was an accident. Poor Beyonce, this is what happens when you get famous...

Looking miserable

Take That singer and cheating rat Mark Owen was spotted in London, looking quite miserable while shopping. Mark is still wearing his wedding ring, although his wife Emma isn't.

And what's with the ridiculously warm clothing? It has been a beautiful day in London.

Aphrodite - sneak peak

Yes! Music website Popjustice had the chance to listen to some of the songs on Kylie Minogue´s upcoming album Aphrodite, and they´re loving it! Read their review below:

Important points regarding Kylie's new single and album
Here is a picture of the microphone songstrel Kylie Minogue used to record vocals for her new album.

How do we know this? Because Stuart Price told us so when we VISITED HIS STUDIO LAST FRIDAY TO HEAR TRACKS FROM 'APHRODITE'. *Explodes*

Here are some things we discovered on our fact-finding mission to Acton.

FIRST UP: THE SINGLE IS BIG BOLD DANCEABLE PROPER KYLIE.
This is the most important news, because if the singles come in the wrong order the whole thing falls apart. 'All The Lovers' is the comeback single '2 Hearts' wasn't, which is funny because it's written by the same people (ie the artists formerly known as Kish Mauve). In tone it's a bit like 'I Believe In You' (which until now was Kylie's best single since 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head') with a more danceable edge; a confident, worldly-wise voice in 'All The Lovers' replaces the slightly naive optimism of 'I Believe In You'. The song starts off with Kylie quietly singing "dance, it's all I wanna do, why won't you move? I'm standing here with you, why won't you move?". Kylie suggests that the dancing is important "even if it throws you to the fire, fire, fire" and as the HUGE MASSIVE CHORUS storms into view it's clear that the song's not really about relaxing while you dance, it's about relaxing into a relationship. In the chorus - backed by a brilliantly wibbly synth riff - Kylie sings "all the lovers that have gone before, they don't compare to you, don't be frightened, just give me a little bit more, they don't compare, all the lovers". The lyrics might not read like much but they're proper air-punchingly euphoric and defiant and a little bit overwhelming in the song. One of the oddities with 'X' seemed to be that some Fairly Fundamental Things had happened in Kylie's life but were ignored in the tunes. Part of this single's likeability comes from its message that "yes, a lot's happened and we've both been around the block a bit but what we have here is properly amazing so calm down and let's just get on with it". After a bit of verse-chorus-verse-chorus action everything drops out for the middle eight where it goes all breathy and intimate and hot and sweaty with Kylie's repeated request to dance then the track EXPLODES into the music from that YouTube clip she put up last week. It's confident and exciting and completely brilliant if not something of a masterpiece and all in all is 'a bit of a moment'. Apparently 'All The Lovers' only really came up in the last three weeks and very quickly took the position of lead single.

SECONDLY: OTHER TRACKS ARE ALSO V GOOD.
Stuart played us a handful of other tracks from the album. 'Get Out Of My Way' could well be this album's 'Love At First Sight'; 'Better Than Today', while similar to the version Kylie performed live last year, now seems to have a punchier, more stompsome production. Another song Stuart played us even though he wasn't meant to but what are they going to do sack him is a slightly 'Wow'-esque number which has a BRILLIANT 'Stuart Price moment' (you'll know it when you hear it) plus another segment in which everything falls away - Stuart describes this is "the moment in a club when you can hear glasses clinking". How very posh - the clubs we go to put everything in plastics. (NB 'Get Out Of My Way' will sound amazing in the sort of club that doesn't trust its clientele with glassware.)

THE TITLE TRACK IS IMMENSE AND RIDICULOUS AND FANTASTIC.
'Aphrodite' is the title track on 'Aphrodite', hence the name. Stuart likes its 'Rhythm Nation'-esque qualities; we felt there was a slight Art Of Noise-ish, 'True Faith'-ey thing going on. It would have fitted in well on 'X' and would have been one of the album's best tracks, not least for the line "it's the truth, it's a fact, I was gone and now I'm back". It's a lyric that underlines and puts into capital letters the idea that this, not 'X', is really Kylie's big comeback album. Elsewhere in the song there's a great "I'm going back and forth and forth and back, can you feel me in stereo" hook along with military drums and handclaps. On one listen it doesn't feel like a single but we think it's one of the songs that'll end up defining the album.

PROPER KYLIE IS BACK BACK BACK.
"She's got that glint in her eye," Stuart notes.

SONGS ON THE ALBUM WERE SUBJECT TO A 'PARTON TEST'.
In an interesting (and slightly demented) twist on the 'old grey whistle test' method of identifying potential hits, Stuart and Kylie knew a song would work if it made sense when sung in the style of Dolly Parton. Apparently Kylie does a particularly good Dolly version of 'All The Lovers'. Vocals on tracks that had already been recorded were re-recorded in Stuart's studio and rather than singing in a vocal booth Kylie would sing (using the pictured microphone) standing right in front of Stuart. The idea was to give 'Aphrodite' a sense of fun and spontaneity - and cohesion - that wasn't there with 'X'.

THE BEST SONGS WENT ON THE ALBUM.
Stuart explains that he got involved with 'Aphrodite' last October when he met Kylie in New York for a writing session. From that session "three or four" tracks remain, and from that point onwards he became a very significant force in the album's completion. As executive producer he's been responsible for shaping the album's sound - at one point on Friday he described it as a 'houseparty' record - which has meant a role in deciding which songs did and didn't make the cut but also mixing tracks so they all feel like they're part of the same album. Songs were picked, Stuart says, not because of who wrote or produced them, but because of how good they were. From what he said last week Stuart's involvement on a lot of songs has been slightly more than the conventional idea of mixing a track but slightly less than the conventional idea of producing it. Basically everything's gone through a bit of a Stuart Price filter so that it doesn't sound like some dickhead A&R has just aimlessly scooped a load of tracks off a shelf, chucked them in a sack, Sellotaped a photo of Kylie to the front, opened his window and shouted "THAT'LL BE £7.99 PLEASE" at people in the street.

NO BALLADS.
We asked Stuart if there were any ballads on the album and he said no (AMAZING), then clarified that point by adding "not in the accepted sense". When we expressed some relief at this, commenting that Kylie wasn't really known for her ballads, Stuart countered that 'Especially For You' was in fact something of a tune. It was hard to disagree with his point and that's a great example of why Stuart's precisely the sort of person who should be in charge not just of this album but ALL OTHER ALBUMS BY EVERYONE EVER. His "not ballads in the accepted sense" comment may mean that there are some interesting sort-of-ballad-sort-of-not moments, and 'All The Lovers' does have that slightly sad, crying-at-the-discotheque upbeat discoballad quality everybody loves. Stuart added that some ballads were recorded during the 'Aphrodite' sessions but just weren't quite right for this album and may well appear in the future when there's a place for them.

AND FINALLY: IT'S GOING TO BE A CONTINUOUS MIX
This may not excite you very much but it excited us an obscene amount. In keeping with the 'this is an album not just a selection of tracks' idea, Stuart's currently finding a way of stitching the songs together. The plan is that it won't be a non-stop megamix but there'll be a natural continuous flow that creates an 'official' order for the album's tracks. (Stuart didn't say this himself, but we guess it'll be a bit like Madonna's 'Confessions...'.) In an era when fans routinely create their own album running orders in iTunes, presenting 'Aphrodite' as a definitively sequenced body of work is a great way of showcasing Kylie's own confidence in what's shaping up to be her best album since 'Light Years'.

In summary: a truly incredible comeback single that'll sit alongside Scissor Sisters' 'Fire With Fire' as a solid gold summer pop anthem, the other tracks sound great, Kylie's on great form vocally, there's no need for anybody to panic about 'X Mark 2' and we can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks. THE END.

Armageddon

Tonight on Dutch television: Armageddon, starring Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck and Liv Tyler.

I´ve seen it like a million times, but everytime it gets on, I watch it anyway!

Scream 4 news

Script writer Kevin Williamson said that the only returning actors in Scream 4 will be David Arquette, Courtney Cox and Neve Campbell. This is contrary to a rumour, spread by Jamie Kennedy, he would also return, even though he was killed in Scream 2.

Perhaps it's for the better. What strange kind of storyline the would have needed to bring him back? Besides, just like the killer told him in Scream 2: 'you'll never be the star'.

New record

In just four days, the Avatar DVD sold an incredible 6,7 million copies in the United States and Canada alone. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has already made 130 million dollars on DVD sales, which means Avatar has now set a new record, beating The Dark Knight to second place.

At the airport

Kelly Clarkson and her mom Jeanne depart Perth International Airport on Western Australia on Friday.

Kelly is now in Indonesia for another concert from her All I Ever Wanted Tour — it’s the one that sparked controversy after it was discovered that the concert was sponsored by cigarette brand L.A. Lights.

After working it out with the brand’s parent company, Djarum, Kelly’s April 29th concert will go on without cigarette sponsorship.

Can't be tamed

Miley Cyrus will world premiere her new single, “Can’t Be Tamed,” this Friday (April 30) at 12pm EST/9am PST on MySpace Music.

Her album of the same name will be released on June 22 via Hollywood Records (part of the Walt Disney Company). “Can’t Be Tamed” will arrive at radio May 3, and will be available on iTunes May 18.
