Truly insane

Just when you thought the Christian Right couldn't get any more absurd, they never fail to disappoint, and always come back with an 'article' even more whacky than the last one. Today's no exception!

You might remember Bryan Fischer (pictured above), who writes a column called Focal Point, published (among other sites) on the American Family Association website. The AFA, as an aside, is the most bizarre club of people I've ever seen, but I get to them some other time.

Anyway, Bryan Fischer wrote a column a couple of weeks ago, suggesting the killer whale who killed SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau a couple of months ago, should be punished by means of a modern equivalent of the Old Testament prefered method of capital punishment: stoning.

Yes, you've read that right. This guy actually wants to stone a killer whale. Aside from the fact I'm not exactly sure how one goes about stoning an animal so large, it's also quite absurd. These animals aren't called killer whales for no reason. As tragic as the trainer's death is, she went into the tank fully aware of the risks inherent of swimming with a huge predator such as a killer whale. Why should the whale be punished simply because it acts the way it's supposed to act?

However, all this was a few months ago, and mr. Fischer got plenty of backlash all over the internet for his stupid comments. You'd think he'd be wiser this time, right? Think again! Have a look at this insane new article he wrote about a grizzly bear killing a human, walking around in the natural habitat of the bear. For some reason Bryan Fischer thinks humans deserve to kill animals wherever they please, simply because they might impose a threat. Well hello, if they pose a threat, then don't go near them, you idiot!

Of course, this is too difficult a thought for him, so what does he come up with? Have a look:

The grizzly is a predator, a fierce, savage unstoppable killing machine. Lewis and Clark did not believe the stories they’d been told by Indian peoples about grizzlies until they started running into them. It was not long before their “curiosity” was “quite satisfied” about the grizzly. Because these researchers were intent on studying the grizzly rather than killing him to protect innocent human life, a husband, father and grandfather is dead today. This was an utterly unnecessary death which could have happened only because our culture has jettisoned a biblical view of the relative value of human life compared to animal life. Because this animal was given a nap instead of a bullet, a human being is dead, and a savage animal is alive, on the prowl, and ready to kill again.

Truly insane!
