Repeal it now

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is urging the congressional lame-duck session to repeal the ban on gays serving in the military before the newly elected members take their seats.

During recent defense and diplomatic meetings in Melbourne, Australia, Gates admitted he is not confident the current Congress will use a brief post-election session to scrap the 1993 law that forbids gays from serving openly in the military. That measure has often been confused with Bill Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell" directive, which was never approved by Congress. At the conference, Gates claimed repeal efforts should be considered dead, unless the lame-duck Congress acts.

Let's hope this ridiculous law gets repealed!
