Equality California

Equality California worked hard to sponsor four pieces of legislation that will help many LGBT Californians when they take effect this Saturday, January 1:

Authored by Senator Mark Leno, SB 543 will allow LGBT youth to access mental health services without their parents' consent, ensuring they get the care that they need when they need it -- without having to come out to their parents first.

Authored by Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, AB 2199 repeals the reprehensible requirement that California seek the “causes and cures of homosexuality.”

Authored by Assemblymember Fiona Ma, AB 2700 will allow same-sex couples who are both domestic partners and married to dissolve their partnership and their marriage with the same process if they choose to separate.

Authored by Assemblymember Hector De La Torre, AB 2055 will grant same-sex couples who are about to enter into a domestic partnership the same unemployment benefits as opposite-sex couples who are about to wed.

Good news!

The reef

Today I pre-ordered the movie The Reef on DVD. It comes out on January 24 and I'm really looking forward to seeing it. For those of you who have no clue of what I'm talking about, check out the trailer above!

Las Vegas countdown

In a few months, Celine Dion, accompanied by an orchestra, will make her big Las Vegas comeback. To help you countdown and make sure you are ready for the big day, visit the 'Extras' section on her official website and download the beautiful 'Las Vegas Countdown' banner! Start counting the days before Celine takes the stage again at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace!

Think twice

Kate Winslet recently spoke out about foie gras farms and urged consumers to think twice before eating the delicacy.

“To produce foie gras, ducks and geese are force-fed enormous amounts of grain and fat, which causes their livers to swell to many times the normal size,” Kate says in a video she narrated for PETA.

A very good cause!

Why not

Robert Pattinson poses next to a chalkboard with the words “Why Not” in this recently released photo from fashion photographer Stewart Shining. The pic is an outtake from Rob’s Italian Vanity Fair covershoot.

“I was just thinking this would be my motto for the new year, and a nice Xmas present for the RPatt fans!” he tweeted on Christmas Day.

Monster

Want to see the Jake Nava-directed video of Kanye West’s song “Monster” (featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, and Justin Vernon) from his latest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? All you need to do is click here!

Cruise control

Queen Latifah is on the cover of the latest issue of Parade Magazine. Here are some quotes from the interview:

Where she hopes to be in 10 years:
“On cruise control, with a couple of kids under my belt,” Queen Latifah shared. “It’s in the Lord’s hands.”

On growing up in Jersey:
“There’s something about growing up in New Jersey that prepares you for whatever you might encounter around the world. We’re not afraid to go places. I met Mike ‘The Situation’ because we were both on Jay Leno. He lives maybe 15 minutes from me. He was like, ‘If you ever get a flat tire, call me and I’ll hook you up.’ I love Jersey.”

On giving advice to future royal Kate Middleton:
“Make sure you have a sanctuary, because everybody in the world is going to be in your business. He happened to be born a prince; you happened to go to college and meet him. You’re two kids who fell in love. I just hope you have a happy life. And don’t take anything personally.”

United state of pop

DJ Earworm has created a massive megamix of 25 of the hottest songs of 2010, called United State Of Pop. Included are hits by Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Enrique Iglesias.

Click here to listen to it.

Poker face

From The Sun:

LADY GAGA must be itching to get her hamster wheel and telephone back on after ditching them over Christmas.

The star left her ridiculous clobber behind and dressed more sensibly to spend the holidays in Omaha, Nebraska, with her fella LUC CARL and his parents.

It's the first time the singer has been to her boyfriend's childhood home and she was determined to impress.

So she dumped her security, dressed casually and turned up with seafood ready to make a pie.

The outrageous singer - whose album The Fame Monster is the biggest seller of the year, shifting 5.8million copies worldwide - also gave a posh hotel the swerve to stay in Luc's old bedroom with him.

A source said: "GaGa is used to the best hotel suites in the world but wanted to sleep with Luc in his old bed in the room he grew up in.

"The holidays are a special family time so she wanted to slot in without any fuss. It's a chance for her to get to know them, show her domestic side and prove there's more to her than what they see on the TV."

The hitmaker's only extravagance was treating the family to a trip to the local bowling alley and casino, where Luc's dad taught her how to play blackjack.

Maybe she showed him her Poker Face.

Wow the audience

Kylie Minogue posted this picture via Twitter this week, and announced she can't wait to get back to rehearsals in the New Year. Kylie is determined to wow with her Aphrodite Les Folies tour, which kicks off in February. She is planning to have a swimming pool on stage called The Splash Zone, with fans watching the show from it.
I'm going to see the show at Gelredome Arnhem and Sportpaleis Antwerpen, and can't wait!

Marriage saved

Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Howard Donald and Mark Owen (basically all of Take That except Robbie Williams) are on vacation in Barbados. This picture was taken of Mark and his wife Emma on the beach. Glad to see they appear to have saved their marriage, after all the trouble it got into this past year.

Two million mark

This week, Lady Gaga’s single “Alejandro” tops the two million mark in paid downloads in the U.S., becoming the singer’s seventh consecutive song to reach the milestone. Gaga is the only artist in digital history to amass seven 2-million sellers as a lead act.

Miami vice

Tonight on Dutch television: Miami Vice, starring Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx and Li Gong.

Holiday crowds

Thinking about visiting Disneyland in Anaheim during the holiday week? Better think again, judging by the video above, showing the horrendous crowds inside the park this week.

Men's fitness

Ashton Kutcher is on the cover of the latest issue of Men's Fitness. Here are some of the quotes from the interview:

On a massive world-crushing event happening in his lifetime:
“It won’t take very much, I’m telling you. It will not take much for people to hit the panic button. The amount of convenience that people rely on based on electricity alone. You start taking out electricity and satellites, and people are going to lose their noodle. People don’t have maps anymore. People use their iPhones or GPS systems, so if there’s no electricity, nobody has maps.”

On losing power last Christmas:
“It was 20 below zero. I got my guns out. We made a fire. We went to the grocery store, and the doors were open because they’re all electronic. People were rolling in and out, clearing out the shelves.”

Pregnant and engaged

Natalie Portman just announced she’s pregnant and engaged to her Black Swan choreographer Benjamin Millepied. And now she’s on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly’s Oscar Race issue, on stands Friday.

Congratulations!

Clicked by paparazzi

Actress Kirsten Dunst doesn't mind getting clicked by Paparazzi but: "I just don't want to look bad in those pictures. Paparazzi don't have as much interest in you when you're not wearing big sunglasses and carrying a $5,000 bag. I have no interest in wearing a tracksuit every day like Madonna does, but I understand why she does it."

Xenomania

Britney Spears has turned to the Xenomania production team to work on her new album. In the past, Xenomania already worked with Kylie Minogue, Girls Aloud, the Sugababes and Cher, so that means a recipe to success!

A whole new album for Britney to lip-sync to!

Extremely happy

Reese Witherspoon has got engaged to Hollywood agent Jim Toth. Reese, 34, and Jim, 40, are "extremely happy", her spokesman said yesterday.

Congratulations!

Van Helsing

Tonight on Dutch television: Van Helsing, starring Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale and Richard Roxburgh.

Artist of the week

Just like Christmas week last year, Tori Amos is artist of the week at Last.fm this week. You can click on over to their page to see Tori performing several songs from Midwinter Graces as well as sharing her thoughts on the album and how it came to be.

You and I

Another fantastic memory from Lady Gaga's Monster Ball concert on November 29th at Ahoy Rotterdam: a medley of Speechless (from The Fame Monster) and You And I (from upcoming album Born This Way).

Love it!

10x 2010 Albums

After my top ten lists for my favourite 2010 movies and tours, now it's time to do a list of my favourite albums released this past year. I didn't count greatest hits albums, by the way. Here we go:

1) Kylie Minogue - Aphrodite
2) Take That - Progress
3) Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
4) Rihanna - Loud
5) Ke$ha - Animal
6) Christina Aguilera - Bionic
7) Eminem - Recovery
8) Boyzone - Brother
9) Black Eyed Peas - The Beginning
10) Enrique Iglesias - Euphoria

What are yours?

Horrible tour

As you may know by now, the New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys are going on a horrendous tour together next year, called NKOTBSB. If that wasn't enough, they've also recorded a horrible promotional video to promote the tour.

Click here to check it out. I know I won't be buying tickets, are you?

1+1+11=WTH

Click here to watch a little video Avril Lavigne recorded to start the countdown to her new album. When you 'like' Avril on Facebook, you get to have a free download on January 1 2011! I'll head over to Facebook right now to like her!

Ticket discounts

Since global concert tickets sales have slowed down because of the economic crisis, LiveNation plans to make tickets cheaper in 2011, so that the arena's will fill up more. Of course, this doesn't apply to tours that are sold out anyway, such as Lady Gaga's Monster Ball, but it could help tours that didn't do so well in 2010, such as Rihanna's Last Girl On Earth.

LiveNation hopes to make up the differences by selling more t-shirts and other merchandise during the shows.

Scream 4 picture

This new picture from Scream 4 has been posted on the movie's official Facebook page! Looks like Sidney (Neve Campbell) is in another risky situation with Ghostface!

911 Call

A 911 call made Sunday when a Massachusetts tourist was struck and killed by a bus at Walt Disney World's Port Orleans resort was released today. An unidentified caller told a dispatcher the man, later identified by state troopers as 69-year-old Robert Krueger, walked in front of the bus. "He got knocked to the ground pretty hard. His head's bleeding," the caller said.

Krueger, of Yarmouth Port, Mass., on Cape Cod, was walking alone when he stepped into the path of the Disney bus traveling through the resort parking lot about 5:50 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol reported earlier.

The caller told the dispatcher Krueger was breathing, but "barely" awake. He was bleeding heavily. Krueger was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died.

The crash remains under investigation, but FHP has said charges against bus driver Rosemary Kincaid are unlikely. Krueger was not in a crosswalk and the bus had the right-of-way.

Christmas package

Madonna shipped boxes and bales containing toys, chocolate and sweets to six orphanages in Malawi. Along with the goodies, Madonna included a handwritten note that read "To my Malawi children on Christmas and Boxing Day. I wish I was with you. See you soon, M."

Officials at Madonna's charity, Raising Malawi, distributed the items and other miniature Christmas cards signed by Madonna and children Lourdes and Rocco. The notes read: "Mercy, David, Rocco, Lourdes and I send you a blessed Christmas to all of you!"

Also in the bales were new clothing and items that Madonna, Lourdes, Rocco and Mercy have outgrown and can no longer use, officials tell UsMagazine.com. Madonna also threw an open-air party at Consol Homes, an orphanage near Lilongwe, the town where she teaches a Kabbalah spirituality class to children. Over 1,000 people from the surrounding villages were invited to celebrate with the 2,500 orphans and underprivileged children. "Madonna says she always enjoys the traditional dances the villagers perform for her when she visits," Yacinta Chapomba, director of Consol Homes, tells Us. "She asked us to invite as many villagers as possible for the Christmas party."

Des nouvelles de Celine

French Celine Dion fans will be delighted before year-end. The France 2 television network will broadcast the interview "Des nouvelles de Céline” tomorrow night at 10:30PM. French viewers will enjoy discovering Celine as she confides in Julie. In addition, Julie Snyder will also be speaking with host Patrick Sabatier a few minutes before the interview. Make sure to be glued to your television set tomorrow night to not miss this great moment.

Dance in the dark

Check out this cool video from the intro of Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour at Ahoy Rotterdam! My mother and I were in the audience, and the show rocked even better than the one at Gelredome Arnhem half a year earlier.

New poll

Thank you to the 22 people who voted on last week's poll 'what do you think of Harry Potter movies?' Here are the results:

Love it - 12 votes
Don't like it - 10 votes

For this week's poll, let me know what's your favorite Rihanna album. Choose between Music Of The Sun, A Girl Like Me, Good Girl Gone Bad, Rated R and Loud.

Laid back

Orlando Bloom is looking hot in Hugo Boss’s latest ad campaign for its new fragrance.

“BOSS Orange is a brand I immediately identified with because it has a laid back, spontaneous quality I relate to,” Orlando said earlier this year when he was announced as the new face of the company.

Learn from it

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester is on the cover of Seventeen Magazine. Here are some quotes from the interview:

On if she still feels having a boyfriend isn’t a priority:
“I would say the same thing today as well. But I think that the importance of love is really strong for me in my life, whether it’s a guy or a friend or just my puppy. I think love changes you over time, and whether you have good or bad experiences, you always grow and learn from it.”

On starting a family:
“I want a family someday and I know that I have to let love in to create that and I think there is someone out there for me, but I’m not on some crazy hunt for that right now.”

On her new music:
“I’m working with a band right now, doing a lot of acoustic music through singing and writing. It’s really fun and fulfilling. It’s an expression of what I have in my life and what I’m going through, or what I have gone through, and of course, it’s mostly about love or relationships.”

Something more normal

And speaking of Rihanna, she and boyfriend Matt Kemp have ended their relationship, a source confirms to the press.

“It happened over the last few weeks,” an insider tells Us Weekly. “She basically was just over it. It was never as serious as it looked. It was always just about having fun,” says the source. The L.A. Dodgers outfielder also couldn’t “keep up with her crazy travel schedule” and just wants “something more normal,” added the source.

Getting away from it all

From The Sun:

RIHANNA has joined the jetset in Barbados yesterday, displaying her motoring skills on a speedy jet ski.

And the Rude Boy singer also showed off her toned body in a teeny bikini as she strolled around the beach.

While the likes of SIMON COWELL, SINITTA and TAKE THAT have been getting away from it all at the Caribbean resort, the Rude Boy singer has been visiting the family home.

And she spent time playing with little brother RAJAD and other family members on the beach before donning a lifejacket for a spin around the bay.

Rihanna has been on the island since Wednesday and will be jetting off before New Year's Eve to pick up a hefty £160,000 paycheque for a gig at a Las Vegas hotel.

Love of her life

Lily Allen has got engaged to "the love of her life" - boyfriend Sam Cooper.

A source said last night: "Lily is absolutely beaming and emotional at the same time. She had no idea Sam was going to propose and said 'Yes' instantly. He's been her rock for her since the couple lost their baby and she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with him."

Congratulations!

Gotcha!

When you're a celebrity, you have to get used to the fact the paparazzi will be there all the time, not just when you want them to. And so, Britney Spears was photographed yesterday picking her nose while in a car with boyfriend Jason.

Whoops!

She was so nice

Now that she's on a break from the Monster Ball Tour, Lady Gaga spent the Christmas weekend with boyfriend Luc in Omaha, Nebraska. Gaga was spotted at the Sydney Bar where she had a few cocktails and posed for pictures with fans on Sunday night. “I was shocked,” said Mikaela, 24. “She was so nice. She started talking to us and was hanging out at my table.”

Moved beyond words

Alanis Morissette send two tweets today, celebrating the birth of her baby boy:

moved beyond words and so grateful

so in love with my new nuclear family xoox

Cute!

Another attack

A 15 year old Kihei teen was bitten by a shark while body boarding just outside Kahului Harbor Sunday. He was released from the Maui Memorial Medical Center after doctors stitched up wounds to his left leg and foot.

Professional surfer Kai Barger was surfing at the same spot with friends when the teen was attacked. Barger and fellow surfer Tanner Hendrickson helped the teen to shore. Once they got there they used a leash from one of their boards as a tourniquet to slow the bleeding. Paramedics tended to the unidentified boy was taken to the hospital for treatment.

RIP Teena Marie

Teena Marie, a celebrated R&B singer-songwriter, was found dead Sunday at her California home, her manager said.

Born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, California, the 54-year-old artist famously paired with late funk legend Rick James and was nominated four times for a Grammy Award, according to her official website.

Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep, manager Mike Gardner said.

"Teena was a black voice trapped in a white body," said Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One, a broadcasting company that targets African-American and urban listeners. "I would always tell her that she was one of the greatest vocalists of our time." Among her songs were "Lovergirl," "Portuguese Love," "Ooo La La La," and "I'm a Sucker for Your Love."

Complete show

Today I ordered myself a bootleg CD of the entire performance Tori Amos gave with the Metropole Orchestra at the Heineken Music Hall in October. My mother and I were in the audience at row 7, and the show was nothing short of amazing. The entire concert is on this double CD, as listed below:

Most talked about

Madonna has been crowned the decade’s most talked-about celebrity of the United Kingdom in a study by website ClickLiverpool. Her name has appeared in UK newspapers and magazines 46,000 times since the year 2000. Producer Simon Cowell and singer Robbie Williams came respectively second and third in the list.

I wonder how many of those times she was actually mentioned in a positive way...

Beach cleared

Mount Maunganui beach (pictured above), in New Zealand, was evacuated this weekend after a surfer reported seeing a shark.

The beach was cleared as a precaution after the surfer spotted something in the water about 150 metres to 200 metres offshore. The five surf lifeguards on duty cleared people from the water and closed the beach, the Bay of Plenty Times reported. The announcement was made over loudspeakers, with about 200 people in the water at the time.

Alejandro - live in Arnhem

While searching for the two videos of Lady Gaga at the Almay Concert in New York, I stumbled upon this great video Lady Gaga singing Alejandro during the Monster Ball Tour, live at Gelredome Stadium in Arnhem, back in May. My friend Leendert and I were front row, and as you know, I liked it so much I saw the show again just a month ago at Ahoy Rotterdam.

So, please enjoy Lady Gaga at Gelredome Stadium.

Almay concert - part 2

Also from the Almay Concert for the rainforest, at Carnegie Hall in New York City, here's Lady Gaga and Elton John, singing a medley of Speechless and Your Song.

Wonderful!

Almay concert - part 1

Watch this great performance of Lady Gaga and Sting, singing Stand By Me at Almay Concert to save the rainforest, at Carnegie Hall in New York City, earlier this year.

Critics' choice

Maroon 5 is set to play at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards next month. The band will play a mix of its own hits and movie standards on the show, airing live on Friday, January 14 at VH1.

“We’re excited to be a part of the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards this year. This is the perfect event for us to combine our music with the best of movies and VH1,” frontman Adam Levine said.

Hold it against me

The lyrics to Hold It Against Me, the first single from Britney Spears' upcoming new album, have leaked to the internet. Here we go:

Hey over there
Please forgive me
I’m gonna have some fun tonight
And ain’t that how it should be?
Dancing to my favorite song
All by myself (Loving myself)
And ain’t that how it should be?

You think you’re a rockstar
Coming on over to my party
That this tight ass dress is for you
Thinking that’s how it should be
Dancing to my favorite song
All by myself (Loving myself)

If you hold it against me
I won’t mind, cause babe
It’s just not our time
And if you wanna dance
You might as well ask (My girlfriend)
As I’ll be on the dancefloor
All by myself
All by myself

Hold it against me (Just do it)
Hold it against me (Boy, just do it)
Hold it against me
baby, you can hold it against me
But tonight, I’m out on my own
You think I dress to impress them
But tonight, I’m doin’ it for myself

Hold it against me (Just do it)
Hold it against me (Boy, just do it)
Hold it against me
Hold it against me
Hold it against me
