Second night

Kylie Minogue has added a second night in Cardiff to her forthcoming world tour “Aphrodite – Les Folies 2011”.

The superstar will now play Cardiff International Arena on March 26, the night after the UK dates open at the same venue. This brings her total of arena dates in the UK to 14, including a staggering 5 nights at London’s 02 Arena.

Tickets for the new Cardiff date go on sale on Friday Jan 28th.

Egyptian look

From The Sun:

KATY PERRY has gone all Egyptian for her latest artwork. And with her severe black bob and black eyeliner she's a dead ringer for ELIZABETH TAYLOR in the 1963 classic Cleopatra. The movie, which starred Taylor's future husband RICHARD BURTON as Marc Anthony, was the most expensive of its time, costing £28 Million - the equivalent of £200 million today.

The singer dresses as the foxy Egyptian queen on the cover of her new single E.T., the latest track from her Teenage Dream album. And she promised be "a new music video and remixes coming soon". Katy, who wed RUSSELL BRAND in October, performed E.T. at a Christmas gig in the States where she told the crowd the song "is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away ... not even in England."

And the classy black and white shot for the single, which is set for a February release, is a huge change from her usual bright and gawdy look. No doubt she bathed in milk and had her hubby peel her a few grapes before posing. Maybe she even showed him her asp.

Born this way - full lyrics

Lady Gaga has released the lyrics to her upcoming single Born This Way, the lead single from the new album with the same title.

Tonight on Dutch television: classic horror movie Jaws, starring Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw.

One of the best movies ever made, and a classic favorite of mine. I have it on DVD of course, and I still watch it at lest twice every year.

Madonna on speed

Madonna's estranged brother is speaking out about the famous pop star - again. Christopher Ciccone, who reportedly hasn't spoken to his older sibling since his book "Life With My Sister Madonna" was published in 2008, told that she isn't "following societal values."

Referring to the 52-year-old singer's younger lovers, Ciccone noted that "if she continues to date all these much younger guys, it could start to look creepy." "But I think that a lot of Madonna's emotional needs are met by taking care of her children," he continued. "These boyfriends must really be like a kind of distraction for her."

"She certainly isn't following societal values, but then again my sister never has and probably never will either," Ciccone, 50, said.

Still, he commended the music icon on her parenting skills. Lourdes, Madonna's 14-year-old daughter with ex Carlos Leon, "has turned out really well." "I'm sure her mother is very proud of her," he added. Ciccone also offered up praise of his sister's career while criticizing Lady Gaga. "I can see a lot of my sister's influence in what Lady Gaga is doing today. It's like 'Madonna on speed' actually," he said, explaining that Gaga is talented but sometimes "goes too far with her costumes and persona." "Madonna was a genius at changing her image into something that her fans could identify with and replicate if they wanted," Ciccone said.

Or perhaps Gaga is just doing a better job than Madonna ever did...

Fucking perfect - the video

I posted a link to the new P!nk video for Fucking Perfect a few days ago, and then a direct video which unfortunately isn't working anymore, and now I'm happy to post the video right here on my own site.

It's intense, but it has a very good, and uplifting storyline: no-one needs to be an outsider.

Little princess

Kylie Minogue's friends Dolce and Gabbana posted the following message about the outfits of the Les Folies Tour:

"Kylie has always been our “Piccola Principessa” (Little Princess), not just because of our work together but more so because of our friendship! Working with Kylie has always been very spontaneous and easy. We are given free reign to create because she trusts that we know exactly what she likes. This will be our third tour with Kylie and this time we have revisited iconic Dolce & Gabbana pieces, adapting them to different themes of the tour. This show definitely cannot be missed!"

Kylie Minogue posted this little behind the scenes video from the band rehearsals for her upcoming Les Folies Tour.

She also promised to post another video, with the dance rehearsals, next week!

Edge of glory

Stephen Hill, who is the VP of Music Programming at BET, took his Twitter account to reveal some news about Lady Gaga’s upcoming album Born This Way, due for release in May. Hill described the six “crazy” tracks he has heard as “aural energy that had my speakers gasping for water afterwards” and revealed a song title, which is Edge Of Glory.

Four million

Lady Gaga’s debut album The Fame (re-released as The Fame Monster in November 2009) this week tops the four million sales mark in the United States. Wrong turn

My life has changed a bit for the wrong turn (which means: my boyfriend and I broke up) and I definitely don't won't to go into all that, but I would like to say I will probably not update for a while, simply cause I don't care too much.

Please come back after this mess.

Video of the year

Lady Gaga won Video of the Year for her Jonas Åkerlund-directed clip for “Telephone” feat. Beyoncé at the 2011 NRJ Music Awards, which took place in Cannes, France on Saturday. Watch Gaga’s acceptance video by clicking here.

The most amazing thing ever

On Monday morning, Lady Gaga finished shooting the music video for her new single “Born This Way” off the upcoming album of the same title. Stylist Nicola Formichetti, who works with Gaga on all her videos, described the clip as “the most amazing thing ever.”

15th Birthday

This weekend, is was the 15th birthday of Tori Amos' iconic album Boys For Pele. I remember, when the album came out, my mother wasn't too happy about it (I was 16 at the time), and now, 15 years later, she has seen Tori in concert 4 times herself and loves her music.

Anyway, the video above is a little backstage movie on how Tori recorded the album. I hope you like it.

Venue changed

Kylie’s Aphrodite–Les Folies show in The Netherlands on 17th March 2011, originally scheduled for The Gelredome in Arnhem has been moved to The Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam on the same date.

Fans living in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht will be pleased with news of the change to the more centralized location. Tickets for the Amsterdam show are now on sale. Tickets for the Arnhem show will remain valid for the new venue and ticket holders will receive an email with details of the move and information regarding any refunds.

Apologies for any inconvenience, the late change was due to circumstances beyond the control of the oranisers. All other shows for Aphrodite–Les Folies Tour 2011 remain unaffected and still have some good tickets left!! Hurry!

I'm going to this show, and although I regret the fact Kylie had to change to a smaler venue, I'm really happy about the fact I will be able to get closer to her during the show!

When you're gone

This song, When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne, describes exactly how I'm feeling right now, and might give you a clue as to why I'm not posting a lot of new stuff these days.

Equal rights

Elton John's concert last night, in which he played 16 songs for more than 90 minutes, raised $3 million for the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the group challenging Proposition 8 in federal court.

Sir Elton did more singing than speaking, yet made clear that he recognized the political ramifications of the event and his role there. He is openly gay and, as he noted, he and his partner had a son on Christmas day. He was at turns politic and caustic in his description of politicians and church leaders who oppose gay rights.

“As a gay man, I think I have it all: I have a wonderful career, I have my health, I have a partner of 17 years, and I have a son,” he said. “But I don’t have the respect of the church or politicians who says I’m less worthy because I’m gay.”

In the picture above: Adam Lambert and Republican presidential hopeful and activist Fred Karger, in a photo he tweeted from the event.

Sweet look

Katie Holmes was spotted making a quick phone call as she walks around the set of her latest film, Jack and Jill, on Thursday in Los Angeles.

She looks really good! Actually, she looks a bit the way she looked a couple of years ago when she was still Joey Potter in Dawson's Creek. I've always liked that sweet look on her!

10x Female singers

Of course, I've done my Top Ten Female Singers last year already, but since things change, I like to do this one every once and a while. Same goes for Male Singers, which I will post tomorrow! Here we go:

2) Lady Gaga
3) P!nk
4) Tori Amos
5) Katy Perry
6) Celine Dion
7) Rihanna
8) Kelly Clarkson

Fucking perfect

Pink - Fuckin' Perfect from Data Clipe on Vimeo.

Earlier today I posted P!nk's message to her fans regarding her new video for Fucking Perfect, and now I'm happy to share with you the full video itself. It's not a light one, but it's a beautiful one indeed!

Let me know what you think of it!

High expectations

"I hope that 'American Idol' finds a killer vocalist that helps to change music completely," judge Randy Jackson told MTV News in a recent interview. "Michael Jackson and Prince just slaughtered the business. Elvis slaughtered the business. I can't remember a time when someone was that important in the history of the game of music."

So expectations are not merely high, but possibly out of this world. Randy went on to mention a few other acts — Madonna, Coldplay, U2, Jay-Z, Biggie and Tupac — who also have had a transformative effect on artistry and culture. Even the biggest winners in "Idol" history, like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, cannot lay claim to such comprehensive influence. Yet it seems that it's a Madonna or an MJ that Randy is hoping to find, rather than a Clarkson or an Underwood.

I'd take Kelly Clarkson over Madonna any day of the week!

Not that presence

Zac Efron said, about his new movie The Lucky One (in which he plays a marine):

“I knew that, the second I went to camp and met some real Marines, that I didn’t have that presence that they possess. They have this way about them, and they’re like 50 lbs. heavier than these guys. I started training immediately, to do the best I could. Its a part that’s kind of sensitive. I cared too much about it to just let it slide, so I really put in the work.”

Of course, the most important question is: will there be singing and dancing in the film?

Disney dream

Jennifer Hudson is all smiles as she poses at the christening ceremony for the new Disney Dream cruise ship on Wednesday at Port Canaveral, Florida.

Jennifer posed with Walt Disney company president Robert A. Iger (middle) and Walt Disney parks and resorts chairman Thomas O. Staggs (right).

Back in town

Sandra Bullock and her son Louis were spotted in New York City, and by the look of it, Louis wasn't happy with the paparazzi! Sandra is back in town after presenting the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes over the weekend.

Personal note from P!nk

P!nk wrote a message to her fans, regarding the video to her brand new single Fucking Perfect, which was released today:

I'm sure my newest video for "Fuckin’ Perfect" will be much like some of my other videos, which basically means I expect it will ruffle some feathers. My favorite books, art pieces, films, and music, always have something jarring about them. I want art to make me think. In order to do that, it may piss me off, or make me uncomfortable. That promotes awareness and change, or at least some discussion. That is my intention. You can't move mountains by whispering at them.

Cutting, and suicide, two very different symptoms of the same problem, are gaining on us. (the problem being; alienation and depression. the symptoms; cutting and suicide). I personally don't know a single person who doesn't know at least two of these victims personally. A lot of us have seen certain starlets showing off their latest scars on a red carpet somewhere, usually right before they head back to their favorite rehab.

Its a problem, and its something we should talk about. We can choose to ignore the problem, and therefore ignore this video, but that won't make it go away.I don't support or encourage suicide or cutting.I support the kids out there that feel so desperate/numb/powerless, that feel unseen and unheard, and can't see another way.. I want them to know I'm aware. I have been there. I see them. Sometimes that's all it takes.

Making this video was a very emotional experience for me, as was writing this song. I have a life inside of me, and I want her or him to know that I will accept him or her with open and loving and welcoming arms. And though I will prepare this little munchkin for a sometimes cruel world, I will also equip this kid to see all the beauty in it as well. There are good people in this world that are open-minded, and loving. There are those that accept us with all of our flaws. I do that with my fans/friends, and I will do that with my child, whoever they decide to be.

Sharks are into black

Surfers may have to give up the traditional black wet suit if they want to reduce their chances of being bitten by a shark. New research has shown that sharks are color blind, so a bold black screams ‘pick me’, while a delicate shade may not.

“Although they are sensitive to certain parts of the spectrum more than others, they don’t distinguish colours,” says Nathan Hart of Western Australia University. “So brightness, contrast, shades of grey is what they see.” International figures show the majority of attacks happen to people in black wetsuits.

Research in the 60s suggested sharks were attracted to yellow. “People used to believe that bright yellow westuits were called ‘yum yum yellow’ so avoid ‘yum yum yellow’ wetsuits,” says Andrew Christie, Kelly Tarlton’s curator. Looks like blue or green is your best bet.

Back in 2009 I was a bit sad P!nk didn't perform my favorite song from her album Funhouse (Mean) during the Funhouse Tour, so imagine how happy I was she did perform it during the following year's Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour.

Check it out, live from St. Petersburg.

Four-piece band

From The Sun:

ROBBIE WILLIAMS might soon be back in LA walking dogs, eating muffins and playing football in his garden on a permanent basis. GARY BARLOW, who welcomed Rob back into TAKE THAT last year, stunned fans yesterday by revealing he still views the man band as a "four-piece".

In an interview to mark his 40th birthday today, Gary said: "Even moving forward, I know we're back with Rob right now but I still see our future as a four-piece band. We see Take That as a four-piece band in general."

That might just rub Rob up the wrong way, Gaz. Robbie devastated the group when he quit in 1995 but patched things up with them last year. The singer said rejoining the boys was "like coming home".

On Radio 2 yesterday CHRIS EVANS presented Gary with a birthday cake. But Gaz's utterances on the show make it sound like the reunion isn't permanent.

He added: "Anyone who fancies a holiday can go next! Or we could go bigger, and get more members, look at BLAZIN' SQUAD. When we came back in 2005 we had the conversation 'Can we do this as a four?'. Thanks to fans who bought the records, we proved we can."

Robbie rejoined Gary, MARK OWEN, JASON ORANGE and HOWARD DONALD and they released Progress - the fastest-selling album in the UK this century - and their stadium tour, which starts in June, sold more than a million tickets in two days. Despite the sudden uncertainty, Gary claims the band - including Rob - are feeling positive.

He added: "We're all in a fantastic place, we're very happy. Bands are difficult, it involves a number of people getting on and feeling a part of it. We're in a great place with this album. Everyone has been involved in every corner of it. We're excited for the tour."

That should put some worried minds at rest. But if it is their last tour as a five-piece, those ticket prices have just gone up £50 on eBay.

Happy birthday, Gary.

Regular look

Rihanna was seen in Las Vegas last night, with her hair in a ridiculous new 'do. Rumour has it this new look has something to do with the video for her upcoming single S&M (from the album Loud, one of my favorite songs from the record!).

Surely this won't be her regular look from now on?

Lady Gaga has just premiered the soundtrack she created for the Thierry Mugler menswear show, which took place in Paris on Wednesday. The track used for the remix is from Gaga’s new album Born This Way, due out in May. The official title of the remixed song is “Scheiße.” The remix does not include the chorus, but the energy of the track is similar to the actual album version.

The first single off Lady Gaga’s new album is called “Born This Way” and will be released on February 13th.

I'm not a big fan of this remix, but then again, I'm never a fan of remixes, so I'm sure I will actually like the normal album version. Click here to listen.

60 Minutes

On Wednesday, Lady Gaga was spotted on the Lower East Side of Manhattan filming more footage for her upcoming 60 Minutes interview with Anderson Cooper. The show will air on Grammy night (February 13th) on CBS.

Larger venues

And speaking of Katy Perry's California Dreams Tour, because of amazing ticket sales, two European shows, in Milan and Berlin, have been moved to larger venues.

The show in Milan, orginally held at PalaSharp will now be at the Mediolanum Forum. The show in Berlin, scheduled for the Columbiahalle, has been moved to the Max Schmeling Arena (the venue where I saw Madonna for the very first time, back in 2001 during the Drowned World Tour).

All tickets will remain valid for the new venues, and, because they are larger, new tickets are on sale now!

The new Gaga song

As promised, Lady Gaga previewed a new song during the Thierry Mugler Paris Men's Fashion Week show. Gaga remixed a Born This Way track especially for the show, for which she acted as musical director.

Possible Haus of Gaga member Jay tweeted a link to a YouTube video of the song playing during the models' final walk. "Watch this and fucking dance," Jay tweeted.

Reflecting the collection, the song is pulsating and dark. Although the audio is muffled, over a throbbing beat, Gaga's voice is heard repeating a phrase in German, which YouTube users translated as: "I'm absolutely clear/ As long as I'm a monster/ I wish we all could be blind/ It would be easier out there."

Pretty miserable

Zac Efron was spotted walking around Los Angeles today.

Is it just me or does he look pretty miserable these days? And I'm not talking about his hotness, which has, I hate to say, declines equally. It looks like it has dawned on him his movies aren't doing that great, and he's actually tanking at the box office.

Too bad... being a teen star doesn't always mean you will make it big time...

Katy Perry on Facebook

At 2.30 Pacific Time Zone (which is where she lives), Katy Perry is going to be on Facebook to answer questions and meet fans! If you're able to login to log on around that time (I'm sure the server will go down because of too many requests) you are in for a great time with Katy!

If, like me, you happen to live in Europe, don't forget, it's GMT 10.30 (United Kingdom) and CET 23.30 (rest of Europe) when Katy comes online! That's less than half an hour! I will make sure to log on!

Aphrodite - Les Folies

Just in case you haven't visited Kylie Minogue's official Aphrodite - Les Folies Tour website yet, here's the press release for this already legendary show:

Aphrodite-Les Folies Tour 2011 promises to break all previous records – the show is grander than anything you've seen to date! This incredible show was created by Kylie and William Baker, her long-time creative collaborator.

Rehearsals started in locations throughout the world before Christmas – Kylie is currently rehearsing with her new band in London; the dancers and aerialists are being put through their paces by not one but three top choreographers in Los Angeles; the tech crew are putting together the props and staging on the East coast in Pennsylvania and Montreal whilst the video team are furiously at work back in the UK. Phew!

The bespoke stage for the European leg of the tour (including UK) is the most technically advanced, complex and precision stage ever created for an arena. It features over a million moving parts, including 30 high impact water jets, rain curtains and fountains! The stage, alone costing over $10million, was built by Tait Towers, the largest staging company in the world, responsible for building stages for the Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna, The Wall etc. etc.

The water elements featured in the show have been designed by the same team who engineered the famous water fountain show at Bellagio in Las Vegas, and the spectacular "World of Colour" show at Disneyland in California. Aphrodite-Les Folies will feature a totally unique "SPLASH ZONE" within the stage itself, where fans can be in the centre of the action in an amazing 4D experience.

The entire production is valued at over $25 million, and will see Kylie joined on stage by a huge cast of dancers and aerial performers along with her live band. The show will be moved throughout Europe by a crew of over 100 personnel in a fleet of 25 trucks!

Fake or real?

A fake message from LiveNation Australia has been going around on the internet today, claiming the Madonna 2011 tour dates reported yesterday to be fake, are indeed true. However, the message itself is nowhere to be found on any international LiveNation page, so it's probably just something a fan made.

Another possibility could be LiveNation is testing the waters to see if there is actually any interest in Madonna touring. Spreading rumours and claiming them to be fake, just to see how much buzz they are creating. The Summer will tell!

Stellar job

"Rehearsals are well underway and the show is shaping up to be more than I could have wished for. All departments are doing a stellar job and the combined level of expertise is nothing short of mind blowing. My friends, Dolce & Gabbana have designed an amazing wardrobe for me. I'm overwhelmed with the love and talent that is going into this tour and I can't wait for my fans to be part of it"

Kylie Minogue, in a brand new statement, released today, regarding her upcoming Les Folies Tour, which promises to become the show of the year!

What a mess

Watch the mess Usher made out of his show at the O2 World in Berlin last week, right before cancelling the rest of the show. It looks like he's pulling a Whitney Houston on his audience!

I don't believe you

Yesterday I posted a video from P!nk's performance of Family Portrait during her Funhouse Tour at the Sydney Entertainment Center. Today, from that same show, another wonderful ballad: I Don't Believe You.

Little Earthquakes Tour

A Tori Amos fansite has released an enormous amount of MP3 recordings from Tori's first tour, the Little Earthquakes Tour, back in 1991 and 1992. It's really amazing just how many shows this fan has put together, and  the collection is only growing. It's really worth having a look (and a listen!).

Straight to the top

Britney Spears' new single "Hold It Against Me" starts atop Digital Songs with 411,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it the highest entry by a female singer ever. Because of this, she enters the Billboard Hot 100 (the most important music chart in the United States) straight at number one.

Extra show

Due to high demand for tickets, Kylie Minogue has added an addition tour date in NYC to her Aphrodite Live 2011 North American Tour.

A third show has just been added in NYC and advance tickets go on sale today. Originally scheduled to play two shows at the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom on May 2nd and 3rd, Kylie’s Aphrodite Live 2011 will now play three nights at the famed venue May 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Pre-sale tickets for the new date go on sale today for American Express card holders and Kylie fanclub members with general on sale beginning January 22nd.

Latest gem

Bryan Fischer, the most insane out of a bunch of them over at the American Family Association (which is basically just another hate group which thinks of itself as terribly important, even though in reality it's just terribly funny), is at it again.

At the exhibition

Kylie Minogue was joined by Boy George at an exhibition of some of legendary photographer Robert Mapplethorpe's works, which was hosted by the Scissor Sisters.

As usual, she looked perfect, which is something I can't say of him...

On the floor

Jennifer Lopez is being accused of ripping off another artist's song. The singer/actress debuted new single On The Floor on Ryan Seacrest's US radio show yesterday, and listeners were quick to point out its similarity to a track by Kat Deluna called Party O'Clock.

Big baby boy

Model Miranda Kerr posted this picture of her (and husband Orlando Bloom's) child on the internet. She said:

"Our beautiful son. He weighed 9lb 12 ounces (a very healthy and big baby boy). "I gave birth to him naturally; without any pain medication and it was a long, arduous and difficult labour, but Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it. I could not have done it without him. We are so happy and are enjoying our time together as a family. He is our little ray of sunshine."

That's Mugler

Lady Gaga is set to preview a track from her upcoming album Born This Way today. A remix of the song will be played during the Thierry Mugler menswear show in Paris at 6 p.m. CET. Stylist and creative director of the fashion house Nicola Formichetti said:

“The track is very, very hard, but pop at the same time. It is really amazing. When I heard it, I said, ‘That’s Mugler.’ She’s remixing it especially for the show.”

The recording of the show will be published on on Thursday, January 20th.
