Personal photos

Pink and her husband Carey have released some photo's of their newborn daughter Willow, but it wasn't like so many other celebrities, for some extra cash. Check their explanation below:

“In the interest of full disclosure: (AND BECAUSE I TELL IT LIKE I SEE IT) Due to the unsettling, surprisingly aggressive and unsafe measures that the paparazzi seem to be willing to go to in order to secure that ‘first shot’ of our daughter–stalking us, chasing us in cars and sitting outside of our home all day and all night, as new parents Carey and I decided that we would release personal photos of our Willow, and donate all of the money to charity,”

Nice one!

The singer, who is named Forbes’ most powerful celebrity in the world, used her star power to “remind the world that Japan is safe” following the March 11th earthquake disasters and urged tourists to return.
I’d like to use my position here today and all week-long to run around Tokyo and enjoy the beautiful city,” an emotional Lady Gaga told reporters. “I want kiss all the beautiful little monsters and scream at the top of my lungs that everyone should come and visit this beautiful place. This is one of my most favorite places on earth.”

“I believe it’s time to look forward now,” Gaga continued as she sipped tea from a porcelain tea cup, which she said she would auction off to raise funds for the Red Cross. “It is so important that we continue to raise money. But it is also important that we remind the world that Japan is now safe and that the doors are open for tourists from all over the world to come in and enjoy the beautiful country.”

Highest grossing

Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has become the studio's biggest release of all time at the international box office, grossing $695.9 million overseas.

It's also the fourth biggest earner of all time at the foreign box office, bested only by Avatar ($2 billion), Titanic ($1.2 billion) and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($742.1 million), which it's on track to surpass.

Just as impressive, On Stranger Tides has now jumped the $900 million mark globally, with a cume of $907.4 million through Tuesday, easily making it the top film of 2011, at least so far.

On Stranger Tides has played far better overseas, where 3D is booming in markets including Russia, China and Brazil. The movie's domestic gross is $211.5 million.

There's growing consensus that On Stranger Tides will hit $1 billion in global grosses, a rare feat that only a handful of films have achieved. In terms of the Pirates franchise, only Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest crossed $1 billion in global grosses, cuming $1.1 billion.

Next 2 you

In what seems to be the oddest combination one could think of, Chris Brown and Justin Bieber have recorded a duet together. It's called Next 2 You and the video has been released today. In case you would like to see it, click here.

I just found the coolest app for my iPhone: Runkeeper. To stay fit and control my weight, I go running two or three times a week, and although I think it's useful, it has never been any fun. Cue Runkeeper, which allows you to keep track of the amount of running you do, your distances, your speed and the calories you burn. Even better, it sets personal scores and records, and you can join friends in what they call a streetteam, to see how they are doing.

Furthermore, it doesn't end with running. I like cycling and swimming as well, and Runkeeper keeps track of those activites for me as well. Finally a good reason to work out!

Gimme more - 'live' in Sacramento

Have a first look at the hot mess that is Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour, which premiered in Sacramento, California last night. A horrible remix of her song Gimme More, with Britney lip -syncing to new pre-recorded vocals to make it sound live.

Human rights

The United Nations Human Rights Council is reportedly on the verge of passing a gay human rights declaration that has been promoted by the administration of U.S. President Barrack Obama, the Associated Press is reporting. The resolution on “Human rights, sexual orientation and gender identity,” denounces “discrimination” against homosexuals. It also implies that traditional human rights declarations, which do not mention sexual orientation or “gender identity,” also apply to sexual orientation.

The declaration expresses “grave concern at acts of violence and discrimination, in all regions of the world, committed against individuals because of their sexual orientation and gender identity.” It also cites a previous resolution of the UN General Assembly to the effect that “the Human Rights Council shall be responsible for promoting universal respect for the protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction of any kind and in fair and equal manner.”

The declaration then goes on to ask the High Commissioner for Human Rights “to commission a study to be finalized by December 2011, to document discriminatory laws and practices and acts of violence against individuals based on their sexual orientation and gender identity, in all regions of the world, and how international human rights law can be used to end violence and related human rights violations based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”

The AP reports, “Obama administration officials believe they have a majority of support in the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva for the resolution, which would be the first such statement to pass a U.N. vote.” The decisive vote is to be held tomorrow, according to the same news agency.

Great news!

During the event, Lady Gaga might meet the media and I will represent our city in bestowing upon her the keys to the city."

What she should and shouldn't do

Now that Madonna is set to return to the studio in July to start recording her next album, of course people are wondering what it will sound like. Which producers will she collaborate with, what themes will she write about, what style of music will she pick. Hopefuly she will return to bringing something new to the table, instead of running behind trends, like she did during the Hard Candy and Celebration era.

Back to Jurassic Park

Steven Spielberg has been meeting with screenwriter Mark Protosevich to brainstorm some thoughts about ways they could create a fourth film in the Jurassic Park series. Plans for a follow-up to the third film from 2001 had been put on hold indefinitely after the death of the series' original author Michael Crichton. But Spielberg is now hoping for a rebirth. The franchise — about the resurrection of dinosaurs in the modern world — made close to £1.6billion at the box office, with the first movie grossing £570million at the box office alone in 1993.

Let's hope for it!

Wardrobe malfunction

Robbie Williams was performing his solo slot on Take That's Progress Live 2011 last night, when his costume suddenly gave way. He told the sell-out crowd at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium: "I'm so excited I've split my kecks."

Screens in the arena then zoomed in on the tear, which came during his first song Let Me Entertain You. Robbie however, carried on singing in his tattered trousers - then pulled them off after singing Angels.

Get naked

Christina Aguilera gets naked (once again) for the cover of W Magazine (there are two covers this month, the other one is Beyonce, which I showed you yesterday).

In the interview she talks about her failed marriage to Jordan Bratman. She says: "At one time or another we were not angels. It got to a point where our life at home was reminding me of my own childhood. I will not have my son grow up in a tension-filled home."

Party in Paris

Speaking of Lady Gaga, yesterday night she partied in Paris again, wearing just her underwear and a pair of gloves, cleverly designed to show her long red talons.

Gaga had performed private gig at the Quinze Quinze club. After returning to her hotel she greeted the crowds of fans outside as they serenaded her with her own hits and she rewarded them by showering them with petals from her balcony.

Vision, passion, power

Lady gaga's meat dress, which caused outrage when she wore it to the MTV Music Awards in September, will go on display in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, U.S. And the layers of Argentinian beef, which were fresh when the frock was first worn by Gaga, have been specially cured before they're unveiled again. In a process which took several months the dress and matching boots were kept in a meat locker, dipped in a vat of chemicals and then dried out by taxidermists in California before being flown to their new home in Ohio.

It will form part of an exhibition called Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power, which opens next February.

They must repent

The president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary says his denomination needs to repent for a "form of homophobia" that has condemned homosexuals instead of embracing them as fellow sinners.

Rev. Albert Mohler (pictured above) told his fellow Southern Baptists at their annual meeting that they've only been half right about homosexuality.

"We have said to people that homosexuality is just a choice. Well, it's clear that it's more than a choice," he stated. "That doesn't mean it's any less sinful, but it does mean it's not something that people can just turn on and turn off."

He continued, saying: "We have also exhibited a certain form of homophobia of which we must, absolutely must in gospel terms, repent precisely because we believe in all the scripture teaches about homosexuality, and all that the scripture teaches about sin."

He said the hard truth is, "Only the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ gives a homosexual person any hope of release from homosexuality. The gospel is what we stand for -- and the gospel is the only remedy for sin."

Some other denominations now teach there's no need for release and that God can bless same-sex relationships. About time!
