Queen of the charts

Whitney Houston is set to conquer the UK charts this weekend. Following her sudden death last Saturday, her fans have been paying her the ultimate tribute and buying her music.
Sales of her records have soared, with 27 singles and three albums going into the Top 200 chart. Seven of her songs will make the Top 40 singles chart. Whitney's cover of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You – which spent ten weeks at No1 twenty years ago and was the biggest selling single of 1992 – is heading for No10. I Wanna Dance With Somebody is set to reach No13 and One Moment In Time is at 25. Her Greatest Hits album has also rocketed up the albums chart to No6.

Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot said: "The tragic death of Whitney Houston came as a shock to her friends, colleagues and music fans across the world.

"Again, the British public is demonstrating its love of Whitney, just as it did for Amy Winehouse last year and Michael Jackson in 2009."
