The dirty ticket industry

Of course everyone already knew LiveNation was scamming us with their ticket prices, but now we finally have proof. Check out this insightful documentary on how LiveNation and other concert promoters are allocating tickets directly to scalper sites such as Viagogo and Seatwave, for them to resell them at ridiculous prices.

Born this way foundation

Watch Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Deepak Chopra and many others introduce the Born This Way Foundation live from Harvard University's Sanders Theatre on February 29th, by clicking here.

It's been three months since this performance was aired, but I hadn't seen it before, so check out Alanis Morissette, singing her hit song Uninvited together with X Factor contestant Josh Krajcik.

Gang bang

In addition to him releasing his own new album The Origin Of Love later this year, it has been announced today Mika is co-writer of "Gang Bang", a song from Madonna's upcoming album MDNA, produced by William Orbit together with the Demolition Crew.

New poll

It's time for a new poll! As you may have heard, Titanic will be back in cinemas the world over this year, but this time as a 3D movie. Since Titanic is one of my favorite movies of all time, I'm very much looking forward to seeing it again on the big screen. So, for this week's poll, let me know if you're looking forward to it as well.

Beautiful disaster

Please enjoy this amazing live version of Beautiful Disaster, by the wonderful Kelly Clarkson.

Employment discrimination

An openly gay music teacher at a Catholic school in suburban St. Louis has been fired after church officials learned he was planning to marry his partner of 20 years.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Al Fischer's Feb. 17 firing from St. Ann Catholic School follows a Jan. 11 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that religious employees of a church cannot sue for employment discrimination.

Fisher, who had worked at the school for four years, declined to discuss the firing other than to confirm it.

The St. Louis Archdiocese said in statement that it supports the school's action "as it is in full compliance with the Christian Witness Statement signed by every educator in the Catholic school system." Among other things, the statement requires that educators "not take a public position contrary to the Catholic Church" and "demonstrate a public life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church."

Ridiculous! Sue them!

Katy talks

Katy Perry is on the cover of the latest issue of Interview Magazine. Here are some quotes from the article:

On hosting Saturday Night Live: “I thought it was really fun, and, of course, interesting and educational in terms of how the industry works…You know how they call SNL ‘the institution?’ It is like an institution—but in a good way. There’s nothing like it, so everyone kind of dreams about doing it. But then you actually get there and realize how much work it is and how little time you guys have to put the whole show together…I think we had three consecutive 20-hour days or something.

On being very different from the rest of her family: “I think they just see that the dynamic has changed because I’m in a different place. But it’s not like I disrespect them in any way. I mean, I take care of them. But that’s what I’ve always wanted: to have enough that I could make sure that everyone in my family had enough. I grew up not really having anything, so the idea that I can take care of my family and my friends now is a really cool bonus.”

On what she wants to do when she’s 80: “I feel like I could be in Florida on a kind of healthy trip where I’m just riding my bike and chillin’ at the beach, with an assisted-living condo bit and a meal delivery service—which is sort of how I’m living now. But I also kind of hope that I turn out to be like my grandma, who is 91 and so rad.”

Happy birthday

Happy birthday to Ke$ha, who turned 24 today!

Kylie Minogue is currently in Sydney, Australia, where she is set to perform at the Mardi Grass. Today, she stopped by one of the many pre-parties. As you can see in the picture above, once again she looked gorgeous!

Diamond jubilee

Kylie Minogue has been added to the line-up for this summer's Diamond Jubilee concert. The star-studded event has already seen the likes of Sir Paul McCartney, Jessie J and JLS confirmed to perform.

The gig, which will take place outside Buckingham Palace in June, has now added Kylie and Stevie Wonder to the packed bill. Speaking about landing a slot at the show, Kylie said she was "honoured" to be asked to play. She said:

"I'm honoured to be invited to perform at the Diamond Jubilee Concert. To share the stage in front of Buckingham Palace with music legends including Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones and Elton John in celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee is very exciting."

Girl gone wild

Earlier this week, Madonna released the second single from her upcoming album MDNA< after lead single Give Me All Your Luvin' turned out to be a huge flop. Called Girl Gone Wild, I actually like the song, although it's getting a bit ridiculous for a 53 year old to keep referring to herself as 'girl'. Also, what's with the totally inappropriate single cover?

Still, the song is just fine.
